Timothy C. GIELOW, 68, of Wellsville, NY, died Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in his home.
Born September 13, 1954, in Buffalo, he was the son of Joseph James and Delores Yvonne Mills Gielow.
A graduate of Angelica High School, he served honorably with the U.S. Air Force from 1978 – 1980. He was employed on the bridge crew with the Department of Transportation.
His interests included fishing, ice fishing, woodworking, hunting, painting, and carpentry. Tim especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his girlfriend of 22 years, Connie Morris; a daughter, Cassie (David) Guagliano of Buffalo; four granddaughters, Rochelle, Maddie, Carley, and Reese Morris; four great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; three step-sons, Anthony (Christie) Morris of Murfreesboro, TN, Scott (Patty) Morris of Eastaboga, AL, and Robbie Morris of Andover; a step-daughter, Christina (Chad) Allen of Filmore; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Niedermaier; a sister, Becky J. Gielow of Wellsville; a brother, Joseph J. Gielow, Jr. of Tonawanda; two step-sisters, Lauri (Dan) Lyon and Jeaneane (Chris) Finnemore, both of Angelica; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Kirk Douglas Gielow; and a sister, Tedde L. Swarthout.
A memorial gathering will be held on a later date. Memorials may be made to SPCA serving Allegany County, P.O. Box 381, Wellsville, NY 14895.

Letha A. (Dickinson) Teed, 92, of Wellsboro, PA
Letha A. (Dickinson) Teed, 92, of Wellsboro, PA passed away Wednesday December 28, 2022 at Broad Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born February 15, 1930, in Wellsboro, to Ezra and Alta (Patrick) Dickinson. On June 24, 1950 she married Ernest H. Teed, and together they raised three children and shared 69 years of marriage.
Letha worked outside the home cleaning houses and offices, and was an employee at Witts Nursing Home in Nauvoo, but she was happy to consider her vocation, that of a homemaker. She had been a member of the Oregon Hill Grace Chapel. Letha and Ernest maintained a camper at Petticoat Junction in Cedar Run for 40 years and loved their time there. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, gardening and canning, and was proud of her flower beds.
Letha is survived by her two sons: Larry Teed of Wellsboro and Scott Teed of Liberty; a daughter: Sandi (Victor) Johnson of Asheboro, NC; five grandchildren: Colin, Stephen, Todd, Karen, and Brittany; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law: LeRoy Teed of Oregon Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Larue and Don Dickinson, and a sister: Angie Fletcher.
Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Letha’s life from 11am-1pm Tuesday January 3, 2023 at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA, a funeral will follow at 1pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oregon Hill Cemetery.

John C. McLaren, 82, of Lindholm Road, Mount Jewett, PA
John C. McLaren, 82, of Lindholm Road, Mount Jewett, PA passed away Sunday (Dec. 25, 2022) at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1940, in Johnstown. On Feb. 15, 1969, in Toledo, Ohio, he married Rose Switala, who survives.
John was a heavy equipment operator with the union in Toledo. John used to hunt in this area and he and Rose moved here after his retirement.
He was a life member of the Mount Jewett American Legion and the Mount Jewett VFW. He also was the Shriners, Zenobia Shrine, in Perrysburg, Ohio, the Free and Accepted Masons Harbor Light Lodge #746, the Mount Jewett Sportsman Club and the Wilcox Sportsman Club.
John had also served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Mary “Suzie” Karalfa of Toledo, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary and Dennis McLaren.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home on Thursday (Dec. 29) from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral ceremony will be conducted on Friday (Dec. 30) at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Pflieger, officiating. Burial and military honors will follow in Nebo Cemetery.

The single use packets are sold in boxes of 10 or packaged in certain First Aid kits. This recall is to the consumer level. FDA analysis found the product to be contaminated with Bacillus licheniformis, and Bacillus sonorensis.

Bradford, PA – The McKean County Commissioners and the McKean County Community Foundation (MCCF) has recently awarded the Meals on Wheels program, which is coordinated at Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC), a $10,000 grant through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Registration Now Open for NPRC’s Spring 2023 Semester

Nearly forty courses are being offered, including Introduction to Psychology, Interpersonal Communication, Foundations of Math, Music Appreciation, and Environmental Biology. These courses are part of five associate degrees – Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Liberal Studies, and Social Sciences. If you are not interested in pursuing an associate degree at this time, NPRC’s team will help you select courses or training that meets your educational goals.
These courses are perfect for recent high school graduates, mid-career adults seeking to advance their career or begin a new one, and even current eligible high school juniors and seniors who want to earn college credits while still in high school. This program is affordable with tuition rates 70% less than the average tuition at brick-and-mortar institutions. Students with a high school diploma or GED pay $185 per credit hour. Current eligible high school students pay $60 per credit hour. Institutional Aid and scholarship opportunities are available.
These courses are offered at the Education Council’s Coudersport office, as well as more than 20 additional locations throughout northwestern Pennsylvania.

Elk County- Angel Fritz from Northwest Bank presented a generous donation to Doug Gaffey, St. Marys Area United Way President; Jim Ryan St. Marys Area United Way Vice-President; Jason Gabler, United Way Corporate Campaign Chair; Doug Bauer, United Way Payroll Campaign Chair; Leah Whiteman, United Way board member; and Mark Saline, United Way board member.
Northwest’s corporate donation of $2,000 will support the St. Marys Area United Way 2022 campaign. The United Way’s 2022 campaign goal is $170,000. Funding raised in 2022 will be available for eligible organizations to seek grant funding for 2023. In order to be eligible for funding from the St. Marys Area United Way, an agency must: have a current 501(c)(3) status, provide services to citizens living within the St. Marys Area School District, provide services to meet health and human welfare needs, and be registered with the PA State Bureau of Charitable Solicitation or be exempt from registration. The St. Marys Area United Way encourages any organization interested in seeking grant funding to inquire by calling 814.781.6000 to receive an application. The 2022 grant application deadline was December 15, 2022, with grant awards announced in 2023.
As a result of the 2021 campaign, the St. Marys Area United Way provided grant awards to Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services, Boys & Girls Club of St. Marys, Boys Scouts-Bucktail Council, CAPSEA, Catholic Charities, City of St. Marys Parks and Recreation, Dickinson Center, Fox Township Sportsmen Youth Program, Girl Scouts of Western PA, Guardian Angel Center, Life & Independence for Today, St. Marys Area School District, St. Marys Interparish Rooted Youth Ministry, St. Marys Library and the Veteran’s Memorial-Eternal Flame located on the Diamond downtown St. Marys.
