NPRC President Susie Snelick Selected as 2024 Trailblazer in Higher Education by City & State Pennsylvania
WARREN – NPRC President Susie Snelick was recently selected as a 2024 Trailblazer in Higher Education by City & State Pennsylvania. City & State Pennsylvania is a multimedia news organization that dedicates its coverage to Pennsylvania’s state and local government, including all things politics and public policy.
According to the official release by Hilary Danailova, ‘Leaders in City & State’s 2024 Higher Education Trailblazers are responsible for this enduring legacy. They are scientists and linguists, attorneys and lobbyists, and dedicated administrators whose creativity and collaborative spirit is evident in the sector’s resilience.’
Selected honorees are nominated annually by professionals, with 50 higher education professionals selected in 2024 to represent Pennsylvania. President Snelick was identified as a professional who ‘Has successfully navigated the ever-changing economic, social and technological landscape in higher education with innovative programming, outreach both tangible and virtual and, in some cases, restructuring to accommodate the ambitions of a new generation.’
“President Snelick has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and guidance in promoting the mission of NPRC,” said NPRC Board of Trustees Chairperson Duane Vicini. “She has assembled a strong team with whom she works to promote the College, while maintaining a fruitful and fostering educational environment. By so doing, more students than ever are enrolling in both the educational and workforce development classes offered and are experiencing success never before available in this area. NPRC’s Board of Trustees highly commends and congratulates President Snelick on this well-deserved recognition.”
Since assuming her role as NPRC President in 2021, Snelick has worked tirelessly to improve and expand Northern Pennsylvania Regional College in a collection of ways. From increasing enrollment in academic programs; expanding offerings in workforce development; moving eastward into a tenth county in Tioga County; helping the College to reach candidacy by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; and even to recently earn a $250,000.00 grant to purchase two customized vans, there has been no shortage of opportunities she has helped make possible for the institution and its students.
Prior to becoming NPRC President in 2021, Snelick began her service to the College as an inaugural board member when NPRC was operating under the name of Educational Consortium of the Upper Allegheny. She was a part of some of the first activities of the College like establishing a mailing address and working alongside legislators to formally recognize and support the goals of NPRC providing affordable and accessible higher education to the residents of northern Pennsylvania.
“I am extremely honored to be recognized in the 2024 Trailblazers in Higher Education by City & State PA. This recognition wouldn’t be possible without the innovative team I’ve been blessed to work with at NPRC. We pride ourselves in always focusing on our students first. We meet them where they are and don’t let the traditions of higher education slow us down. With a team of like-minded individuals dedicated to the economic vitality of our communities, this work is fulfilling. We challenge ourselves each day to do more and be better than yesterday. I’m proud to lead this great institution and to receive this amazing recognition.”
