Norman S. Plumstead, 74, lifelong resident of Westfield, PA
Norman S. Plumstead age 74 lifelong resident of Westfield passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. Born March 17, 1950 in Westfield, he was the son of William and Beverly (Finch) Plumstead.
Norman retired from Penelec after 37 years of service. He married Mary K. Dempsey and together they shared 55 years and raised two sons.
Norman was a member of the Knoxville VFW, American Legion in Wellsville, Sons of the American Legion and the People’s Church of Potter Brook. He was an avid outdoorsman: enjoying hunting, fishing and helping on the family farm. He liked woodworking and built many bird houses, liked the old Western shows and John Wayne. Most of all he was a family man and loved spending time with his sons, granddaughters and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, William (Amy) Plumstead of Coudersport and Terrence (Sue) Plumstead of Westfield; four granddaughters, Paula (Alex) Brewer of Jasper, NY, Stacey (Alex) Vetter of Mills, Tiffany (Dawsen Ramsey) Plumstead of Coudersport and Katelynn (Colton Swede) Plumstead of St. Mary’s; great grandchildren, Natalie, Addison, Travis and Macie Brewer and Lincoln, Anderson and Gracelyn Vetter; his mother, Beverly Plumstead of Wellsville; sister, Diane (Lyle) Ostrander of Wellsville and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Norman was preceded in death by his father, William and a sister, Wilda Jean Plumstead.
Family will receive friends at Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St., Westfield on Sunday, 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, 11:00 AM with Pastor Gene Jones officiating.
