Memorial Day Services Were Held in Port Allegany
Memorial Day Services were held in Port Allegany with a Bridge Ceremony for those lost at sea, followed by a service at the VMI Pavilion.
The Brooklynside Bridge ceremony was led by Chuck Yeager with Roy Kio and the Port Allegany Honor Guard and Dan Dzubak dropping flower petals into the water to remember those lost at sea. .
The ceremony at the VMI was also led by Chuck Yeager and included the Port Allegany Honor Guard. A roll call was done, remembering the following:
World War I – Frank G. Burt, Charles Burch, Orlo Chafee, William F. Dunn, Fay Fessenden, Gregg Green, Glenn Henderson, Edwin Johnson, Hilding Johnson, Eldredge King, Collins Thomas, Charles Lambert, Lawrence Meacham, Harold O’Connor, Floyd Main, Arthur L. Nelson, Thomas Smith and Elmwood Wicks.
World War II – Roland B. Johnson, Lt. Floyd E. Card, Staff Sgt. Nelson McCloskey, Staff Sgt. George Modsko, Pfc. Harold Jackson, PVT. Max Chilson, Virgil Kinney, Pfc. A picnic lunch followed the ceremony and was hosted by the VMI Auxiliary.
