JOHNNY FOLSOM 4 TO PERFORM JOHNNY CASH HITS AT THE DEANE CENTER NEXT THURSDAY, APRIL 10

Whether you’re a lifelong Johnny Cash fan or new to his music, Johnny Folsom 4 offers an unforgettable experience that pays tribute to one of country music’s most influential figures.
Next Thursday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m., the Johnny Folsom 4, a high-energy tribute band dedicated to honoring the legendary Johnny Cash, will perform the Man in Black’s greatest hits in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.
Lead singer David Burney brings a lilting southern baritone to Cash’s classic songs, while the three other band members bring life to the raw power and timeless appeal of his music.
WIth a repertoire that spans Cash’s iconic career, from his early Sun Records recordings to his later, more introspective works, Johnny Folsom 4 captures Cash’s essence while adding their own distinctive style. Most of this American singer-songwriter’s music contains themes of sorrow, moral tribulation, and redemption, especially songs from the later stages of his career.
Cash was known for his deep, calm, bass-baritone voice, the distinctive sound of his backing band characterized by its train-like chugging guitar rhythms, a rebelliousness coupled with an increasingly somber and humble demeanor, and his free prison concerts. On stage, Cash wore all-black, which earned him the nickname “Man in Black.”
Born to poor cotton farmers in Kingsland, Arkansas in 1932, Cash grew up on gospel music and played on a local radio station in high school. After serving four years in the Air Force, much of it in West Germany. he rose to fame during the mid-1950s in the burgeoning rockabilly scene in Memphis, Tennessee.
Among his signature songs are “Folsom Prison Blues”, “I Walk the Line”, “Ring of Fire”, “Get Rhythm”, and “Man in Black”. Cash is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 90 million records worldwide. His genre-spanning music embraced country, rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel and his crossover appeal earned him the rare honor of being inducted into the Country Music, Rock and Roll, and Gospel Music Halls of Fame. Cash died in 2003.
The Johnny Folsom 4 live shows are an electrifying celebration of Cash’s legacy, blending classic songs with dynamic performances that connect deeply with audiences.
