George Chatmon, 92, of Kane
George Chatmon, 92, passed away Sunday (Nov. 27) at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
He was born on March 24, 1930 in Kane, the son of the late John and Lealon Maceo (Burton) Chatmon. On Aug. 4, 1973, in Ontario, Canada, he married Agatha “Ann” Ketter, who survives.
Mr. Chatmon had worked at the J.C. Chatmon garage and also for Quaker State for many years. He was a member of the Community Fellowship Church and was an avid fisherman and a recreational pilot. George loved watching boxing and loved politics.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Yohanna Maceo-Swinton of Rochester, NY; two stepdaughters Judy Freas of St. Louis, MO and Michelle Harp of Kane; a sister, Mildred Norman of Kane; ten grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Tina Marie Chatmon; two brothers Bob and his wife Mary Elizabeth Chatmon and John “Junior” Chatmon; a grandson Cory Chatmon and a niece, Deborah Davis.
Friends are invited to attend a visitation with the family on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. David Pflieger officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
