Darlene F. Lathrop, 79, of Port Allegany, passed away on Monday (August 12, 2024) at her home in Port Allegany, surrounded by her family.

She was born August 24, 1944 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Clarence R, “Bob” and Dorothy (Hobbs) Niles.On December 7, 1978 in Port Allegany she married Richard G. Lathrop, who survives.

Mrs. Lathrop graduated form Port Allegany High School in 1962 and Bradford Nursing School in 1963.

She was employed at the Port Allegany Hospital and Charles Cole Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son; Brent (Ryan) Niles of  Port Allegany PA.

Two daughters; Christi Lathrop and Nicloe (Michael) Torpey both of Port Allegany PA.

One step-son; Rich (Malissa) Lathrop of Delaware.

16 Grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren

Two brothers: Carl (Betty) Niles of Crosby PA and Kenneth Niles of Port Allegany, PA,

One sister; Nancy (Randy) Andreano of Port Allegany PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Mark Niles and one sister Rita Niles Brewer

Following her wishes there will be no visitation or services at this time.
