DUI Arrest In Sergeant Twp.

(BRADFORD, Pennsylvania, September 15, 2023): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that, on September 14, 2023, local police partnered with County and State law enforcement for a second saturation patrol in the Bradford area.

The McKean County District Attorney’s Office along with the McKean County Detectives, McKean County Drug Task Force, Agents with the Attorney General’s Office, McKean County Adult Probation, McKean County Sheriff’s Department, Bradford Township Police, Pennsylvania State Police-Lewis Run, State Parole, Homeland Security, Warren County Detective, City of St. Mary’s Police Dept., Emporium Borough Police Dept., Clarion Borough Police Dept. and K9s with McKean County Detective K9 Unit, City of Bradford K9, and Warren County Detective K9 joined City of Bradford Police in a joint detail in our area last night. They were assisted by McKean County Emergency Services, McKean County 911 Center, McKean County Jail, and Foster Township.
The purpose of the detail was to pursue drug offenses and locate those intending to deliver drugs as well as to locate individuals wanted on outstanding warrants or wanted for extradition.
On 09/14/2023 at approximately 1850 hrs., City of Bradford Police and EMS were dispatched to the Foreman Street bridge near Arby’s for a pedestrian versus motor vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, Police located an elderly male who was staying at the Holiday Inn Express had been struck and was lying in the roadway. EMS arrived on the scene to provide care however the 84-year-old male identified as Jesse Meridith from Louisiana succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of death was ruled “blunt force trauma”.
The adult male driver of the motor vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation. Pennsylvania State Police forensic investigators and crash investigators were called to the scene for specific mapping and photography. The investigation is open and ongoing.
City of Bradford Police were also assisted on the scene by the McKean County District Attorney’s Office, Bradford City EMS and Fire Department as well as Coroner Cahill’s Office.

On September 13, 2023, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at SP Amity arrested Carry D. Keyser, 21, of Scio, NY was arrested for Sex Abuse 1st degree (D Felony) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child- 3 counts for each charge.
On September 9, 2023, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at SP Amity received a complaint of possible sex abuse of multiple children under the age of 10 years old. The investigation determined that Keyser was in close proximity with the multiple children for a length of time and sexually abused them. The Allegany County District Attorney’s Office was briefed and Keyser was arrested and processed at SP Amity.
Keyser was arraigned in the Town of Scio Court. A full Stay Away Order of Protection was issued and Keyser was remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of 20k cash bail, 40k security bond.

Wellsville Police arrested Brandon J. Mathews, age 34 of Bolivar, charging him with Harassment 2nd (Violation). The charge stems from an incident that took place on East Genesee Street on August 7th. Mathews was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thomson. Mathews was released and is due back in Wellsville Village Court on September 19th at 4:30 pm.

On September 12th, 2023 at approximately 1:00PM, Cuba Police arrested Cody M. Plants (30) of Cuba. Plants was arrested on charges of harassment 2nd (Violation), criminal mischief 3rd (Felony), assault 3rd (Misdemeanor) and burglary 2nd (Felony).
Plants was processed and placed in front of a Cuba Town Judge and sent to the Allegany County Jail on $10,000 bail. Plants is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of Law.

On Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 at approximately 6:00 AM, members of the Cuba Police Department with the assistance of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team and the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on State Route 305 in the Town of Cuba. The search warrant was a result of a culmination of complaints from the citizens of Cuba and information from tips as well as police operations. Cuba Police entered the residence on State Route 305 and seized cash, fentanyl, over 50 LBS of marijuana, firearms and other dangerous weapons as well as several other items of narcotic paraphernalia.
The following arrest was made in relation to this search warrant:
Sybil D. Davis (34) of Cuba was arrested on charges of criminal possession of cannabis 1st (Felony). Davis was processed and released to appear at a later date. Davis is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Sep 12th, 2023 Description On May 10th, 2023 City of Bradford Police responded to Oak Hill on Lincoln Avenue for an intoxicated male laying in the bushes. Officers located a male named Simon Albright intoxicated and passed out. EMS was called to transport the male to BRMC. The male was found to also be in possession of Marijuana and paraphernalia.

Sep 11th, 2023– On 01/09/2023 the City of Bradford Police detained the defendant Patrick J. Ryan assisting US Postal Inspectors who were conducted a separate investigation. The defendant Ryan was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Those items were sent to PSP Labs for testing and substance confirmation. The test results would later come back showing the paraphernalia contained Methamphetamine and Fentanyl both Schedule II dangerous substances.
Wellsville Police arrested Stephanie N. Bennett, age 34 of Wellsville, charging her with DWI and DWI w/BAC of .08% or more. The charges stem from an incident that took place on Park Avenue. Bennett was processed, issued an appearance ticket and released to a third party. Bennett is due to appear in Wellsville Village Court on September 19th at 4:30 pm.
