Eugene A. Yentzer Sr., 93, of Port Allegany, passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 25, 1932, in Sweden Township, Eugene was the son of the late Roscoe Riley Yentzer and Hazel Mae Tombs-Yentzer. Eugene was the devoted husband of the late Grace M. Osborn-Yentzer. They were married on May 10, 1963, and shared more than 63 years of marriage before her passing on March 30, 2025. Their life together was one rooted in commitment, and family.
He proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War from March 1950 to March 1953, a service he carried with deep pride and respect for the military throughout his life. Eugene retired from Pittsburgh Corning in Port Allegany after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He was a man who valued hard work, loyalty, and providing for those he loved.
Smethport – Rosalie I. Bishop, 85, of Wilcox, PA, passed away Wednesday (January 14, 2026) at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 1, 1940, in Ridgeway, PA, the daughter of Richard P. and Mabel (Howard) Nearing.
Rosalie was a Smethport High School graduate. In her early career, she worked in book keeping for Kendall Refinery in Bradford. She was tax collector for Sergeant Township for several years and last worked for 106.3 FM The Mountain radio station of Smethport, PA, before retiring.
She was a member of the Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wilcox.
Melody G. NORBERG, 62, of Ulysses, PA, formerly of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in UPMC Wellsboro. Born July 31, 1963, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of John and Viola Zimmerman Hartman.
On May 16, 1981, in Philadelphia, she married Edward H. Norberg, Jr., who survives. A graduate of Jules E. Mastbaum High School in Philadelphia, she devoted her life to caring for her family. Her grandchildren were the center of her world. Melody enjoyed crosswords and puzzles.
Ramona K. “Choppy” HULTS, 63, of Westfield, PA, died Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in her home. Born May 15, 1962, in Coudersport, she was the daughter of William Lee “Bill” and Jane O. Cratsley Putman.
On October 25, 1980, in Knoxville, she married James Wesley Hults, who survives. Before her marriage, she was employed by the Northern Tier Children’s Home in Harrison Valley and after her marriage traveled with Wes for many years while he worked on drilling rigs.
She was a member of God’s New Beginning Church in Harrison Valley. Ramona was a beautiful person and devoted woman of faith. She loved all her family and prayed for each of them. Her family was proud of their wife, momma, grandma, sister, and aunt.
George Ronald “Ron” WHITESELL, 81, of Andover, NY, died Saturday, January 10, 2026, in UR St. James Hospital, Hornell. Born January 27, 1944, in West Union, he was the son of Irving and Edith Latten Whitesell.
On August 19, 1989, he married the former Linda L. Stebbins, who survives. Ron attended Andover High School. He was employed by Alstom Power in Wellsville of 32 years. Ron enjoyed training and pulling Belgium horses, fishing, hunting, boiling maple syrup, and processing meat.
Surviving besides his wife, Linda, are: a daughter, Roni Marie Whitesell of Brockport; two step-daughters, Deborah (Kevin) Miller of Coudersport, PA and Dawn (Joe) Correll of Clinton, WI; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darla Williams of Wellsville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Milford C. Whitesell, Donnie J. Whitesell, David I. Whitesell, and Richard Whitesell; and a sister, Thelma “Betty” Patrick. Sharron M. Stebbins: Beloved Mother and Grandmother
Sharron M. Stebbins, 81, of Bradford, Pennsylvania and formerly of Friendship, New York, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026Born on May 2, 1944, Cuba, she was a daughter of Clifford and Velma (Rollins) Butler.
On April 13, 1969, in Belfast she married Alan Stebbins who predeceased her on September 28, 2015.
Sharron was a graduate of Belfast Central School. She had worked at ACME Electric and later as a receptionist for Dr. Kolish and Dr. Gulati in Friendship. This is where she became life long friends with Dottie Williams and her family. After the office closed in Friendship, she returned to JCC and received her associates degree and worked as a Substance and Abuse Counselor for the Cattaraugus Co. Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.
She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She found great joy in giving of herself to others and helping them anyway she could. She also enjoyed sewing.
Sharron was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Friendship until its closing and later was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bradford.
Surviving are two daughters Tisha Young and Melissa (Charles) Lananger both of Bradford; her grandchildren Anthony Young, Ahsley, Dylan, Tyler, and Janelle Lananger; her great grandchildren Ryker and Zuri Pedersen and Octavia Lananger; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son in law Raymond Young, a brother Richard Butler, and a sister Betty Jedrusiejko.

Melvin V. Coursey, Sr. age 93, originally from Millsboro, DE, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 9, 2026 after a short illness. He was the loving husband of Gloria D. Coursey, who preceded him in death in 2024.
Mel, known affectionately as Puddy, was born to Charles Marshall Coursey and Cecilia Eugenia Sterrett. He was a proud Nanticoke Native American from Millsboro, DE.
On March 17, 1951, he married the love of his life, Gloria (Mosley) Butler, and they shared 73 loving years together. They moved to Philadelphia in 1953 where they raised their family and then relocated to Potter County, PA where they enjoyed their retirement in the mountains. He was a friend to everyone and always had a smile and hug for you, but he will always be known as a practical joker who liked nothing better than a good laugh.
Joann Moore, 66, of Coudersport, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport. Joann “Jo Jo” was born on May 17, 1959, in Glen Cove, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Zwolinski) Moore.
Joann worked as a paralegal and was a member of Gospel tabernacle. She enjoyed country music, line dancing, loved animals, especially dogs, and was a huge Disney fan.
Joann is survived by a sister, Patricia Martini of Coudersport; a brother, Charles Moore Jr., of Long Island; a nephews, Matthew Martini of Atlanta, GA; Parker Moore of Long Island; and a nieces, Jennifer Mahon both of Atlanta, GA; and Jules Moore of Long Island; a brother-in-law, William Bulck of Long Island; and her longtime companion, David Nolan of Coudersport. In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Bulck, a nephews, Billy Martini, and Billy Bulck.

Agnes McGlinchey, 58, of Coudersport, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport.
Agnes was born on August 31, 1967, in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Agnes (Carlson) McGlinchey. She was the wife of John Amato and shared 36 years together until his passing November 5, 2025.
Agnes, at one time, worked with her husband John, repairing and installing roofs. She was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle. She was a caring person, loving friend, dependable, and trustworthy. If she could, she would do anything for anyone. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, and adored children. Agnes was also very active with Alcohol Anonymous and sponsored many people.

Port Allegany – Virginia “Ginger” Andreano, 82, of Port Allegany, passed away on Monday (January 12, 2026) at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
She was born August 20, 1943 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Harry and Leola (Baker) Rittburg. On April 11, 1970, in Port Allegany, she married Frederick G. Andreano, who died on July 20, 2023.
Ginger was a graduate of Port Allegany High School Class of 1961 and worked at Pittsburgh-Corning in Port Allegany, and later at Ball-Incon, where she retired as a packer. She was a member of the Port Allegany Church in Port Allegany
Jeffery D. Frampton, 57, of Bradford, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at his home.
He was born on March 21, 1968 in Bradford; a son of the late Wylie and Karen Dry Frampton.
He was a 1986 graduate of the Bradford Area High School.
Jeff was talented baseball pitcher and all-around athlete who also enjoyed shooting pool and going bowling. He was a jack of all trades who could fix anything he set his mind to. He loved going to the various local race tracks to watch dirt track racing. He enjoyed spending time with his children and family but especially his grandchildren who he loved dearly.
For the past four years he was employed by Allegheny Wood Molding, Bradford, making duck calls.
He is survived by one son, Zach (Rhonda) Frampton of Duke Center; one daughter, Myah Seeley of Lewis Run; two brothers, Scott Frampton of San Diego, CA and John Frampton of Florida; one sister, Tracey Kandare of Lewis Run; five grandchildren, Liam, Annaleece, Vivian, Faye and MaLanee; one niece, Kylie and one nephew, Andrew.
Pamela M. Cannon, 67, of Cherry St. in Kane, passed away Thursday (Jan. 8) in the Olean General Hospital. She was born June 3, 1958 in Jamestown, NY to the late Harold and Imogene (Lewis) Andrus. She married Thomas Cannon, who survives.
Pam spent her life as a homemaker taking care of a family. She also attended many area churches.
She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Cannon of Bradford; two grandsons, Alasdaire and Octavian Kinney; a brother Lewis (Zelda) Andrus of Kane; a sister, Star Andrus of Bradford and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Andrus and an infant sister, Goldie Andrus.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday ( Jan. 17, 2026) 12:00 P.M. at the First Church of Nazarene in Bradford, with the Rev. Josh Haney officiating.

Shirley Ewing, 87, passed away Saturday (Jan. 10) in the Lutheran Home at Kane, where she had resided. She was born Feb. 21, 1938 in Ridersville, the daughter of the late Karl and Florence (Dighton) Fitzgerald. She married to James Ewing, who preceded her in death, on March 13, 1957.
Shirley worked for many years in housekeeping at the Kane Community Hospital.
She is survived by two daughters, Julie Ewing and Deb Cappello, both of Kane; one granddaughter, Courtney Lupole and a grandson Steven Sanders.
In addition to her parents, and husband she was preceded in death by one sisters, Twila Heeter: two daughters,Melissa “Missy” Sanders and Valorie Ewing and a son-in-law, Bob Bodecker.
In keeping with Shirley’s request there will be no services.
Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.

Eldred- Roberta A. Freer, 84, of Eldred, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (January 13, 2026) at UPMC-Shadyside, Pittsburgh, after a short illness. She was surrounded by her children as she left this world to enter the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
She was born October 10, 1941 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of William and Margaret (Tenz) Propster. On May 9, 1980, she married Russell Freer, who preceded her in death on January 20, 2015.
She was a devoted and nurturing mother, exceptional grandmother, and devout Christian.
Mrs. Freer was a graduate of Ellicottville High School Class of 1956. Roberta worked in home health care as a caregiver for many years. She also had worked at Olean Tile for a period of time, and ultimately, at Graham’s Greenhouse in Bradford. She was in the process of becoming a Master Gardener through the Penn State Agricultural Program.
She was a member of the McKean County Historical Society, Smethport, and Friends of Allegany State Park.
Theresa Ann Sevinsky Nix, age 73 of Palestine, Texas, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on Saturday, the 3rd day of January 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Theresa was born on the 13th day of May 1952, in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, to parents Thomas J. Sevinsky and Louise S. Caffo Sevinsky. She was affectionately known by many as Momma Nix.
Her formative years were spent in the halls and classrooms of Coudersport Area School District where she attended K-12, laying the foundation for her lifelong love of learning. Theresa’s academic journey continued at Alvin Community College, where she earned an associate’s degree that would serve as a steppingstone to a career marked by dedication and service.
She served her country as an Air Traffic Controller in the Army for a year. From 1982 to 1985, she was a proud member of the Texas State Guard, where her leadership and resilience shone brightly. Theresa’s career culminated in her retirement from the State of Texas as a field appraiser, a position that benefited from her keen eye for detail. Her service extended to the U.S. Forest Service, where she dedicated 10 years, further exemplifying her love for the great outdoors and her country.
Susan Ann Weyant, affectionately known as Susie, Susie Q, Sue, Suz, Nana, MeMa, Mamee’, and Grandma Susie, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on the evening of January 8, 2026, with her devoted husband, Ralph, by her side—holding her hand and reminding her how deeply she was loved. Born on July 27, 1941, in Kane, PA, to John and Ruth Shelander, Susie lived a life marked by faith, joy, deep compassion, and a genuine love for people. She is now fully healed, free from suffering, and joyfully in the presence of Jesus.
Susie grew up in Smethport, PA, where she attended Smethport Area schools and graduated from Smethport High School in 1959. She was captain of the cheerleading squad, participated in school drama productions, and loved attending dances—especially Sadie Hawkins dances. After high school, she pursued her passion for caring for others by attending practical nursing school in Bradford, PA, earning her LPN license.
Susie began her nursing career at Bradford Hospital and later worked as a private duty nurse. She also served at Port Allegany Hospital, working in the recovery room, labor and delivery, pediatrics, and general nursing. She later joined Sena Kean Manor, where she discovered her calling in geriatric nursing and pursued additional training in memory care, becoming a trusted source of comfort for families navigating Alzheimer’s and dementia. For a short time, Susie also served at the Lutheran Home in York, continuing her commitment to compassionate care for aging adults.
Rather than retiring, Susie found joy working with Visiting Angels, where she was deeply loved by clients and colleagues alike. Even during her battle with ovarian cancer, she continued to encourage and inspire others with grace and courage.
Alfred N. Pingie, 94, of J.F. Kennedy Drive, Lewis Run, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at Olean General Hospital surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren.
Born February 22, 1931, in Lewis Run, he was a son of the late Alfred and Angeline (Benedict) Pingie.
Al attended schools in Lewis Run and was a 1949 graduate of Bradford Area High School.
On January 4, 1951, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on November 5, 1954.
On August 26, 1955, in Lewis Run, he married Gloria F.(Giordano) Pingie, who preceded him in death on June 21, 2017.
Al was employed at Hanley Brick, Corning Glass and prior to his retirement he worked as a Machine Operator at Bradford Electronics.
He was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church and the Italian Mutual Aid Society.
Surviving are four daughters, Karen Rounsville, of Lewis Run, Angela Pingie, of Bradford, Maria (Scott) Neely, of Lewis Run and Jamie (Bob) Schmick, of Great Valley New York, two sons, Mark (Vicky) Pingie, of Bradford and Michael Pingie, of Lewis Run, four grandchildren, Gregory (Matti) Gorrell, Jenna Zetwick, Hannah (Nick Pezich) Woodel and Zachary Woodel, five great grandchildren, Maisy Gorrell, Gracelyn Zetwick, Liam Zetwick, Luca Zetwick and Rhys Gorrell and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Gloria of 62 years.
Private services will be held for the family in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. with Rev. Dominic Monti, of St. Bonaventure University officiating. Entombment will be in St. Bernard Mausoleum.

Ronald C. Pulcher, 69, of Galeton, passed away Friday January 9, 2026 at home surrounded by family.
He was born September 27, 1956, in Aston, PA, to Clarence Earl and Mildred (Dotts) Pulcher. On June 12, 1976, he married Susan Price, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.
He worked many years driving trucks for BFI and Allied Waste. Before that he owned CKR Garage with his brother and father. Ronald was a gifted man and could fix anything, appliances, construction, automotive, he could do it. He also loved hunting and fishing. And while doing it himself was rewarding, teaching his children to hunt and fish was even better for Ronald.
Ronald is survived by his wife: Susan Pulcher of Galeton; three sons: Ronald Pulcher, II, of Galeton, Eric Pulcher of Galeton, and William Matthew Pulcher of Michigan; two grandchildren: Lucinda Redman of Michigan, and Xander Pulcher of Michigan; and two sisters: Linda Good and Mildred.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother: Kenneth Pulcher.

Jo Ann Boller, 94, of Greenville, formerly of Port Allegany, passed away Tuesday, (January 6, 2026) at UPMC Horizon-Greenville, PA., after a brief illness. She was born April 27, 1931 in East Smethport, the daughter of Joseph and Myrtle (Lynde) Kearns.
She graduated from Smethport H.S. Class of 1950.,and was employed by Sylvania in Emporium, Pa. On June 24, 1954 she married Charles E. Wells, who passed away January 7, 1967. She married Charles F. Boller on June 21,1969 and they were married for 45 happy years. He passed away on August 14, 2014.
Jo Ann was a member of St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Port Allegany from 1958 to 2013. She loved her church family and enjoyed being involved. She taught Sunday School, participated in the Soup Suppers, attended Bible Study and was a delegate to many diocesan conventions.
She also loved attending Trinity UMC with her husband, Chuck. On moving to Greenville she became a member of St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in Greenville.She was a member of the ECW in both Port Allegany and Greenville. For years, she was a member of the Republican Women’s Council and served as a Judge of Elections for Liberty Township for many years. She belonged to Friends of the S.W. Smith Memorial Library, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Port Allegany Women’s Club. Once at St. Paul’s Continuing Care Community, she volunteered to accompany nursing home residents to appointments and also worked in the Bistro coffee shop.
She and her husband, Chuck, loved singing in the Passion Play Choir in Coudersport. Jo Ann was a friendly and familiar face in Port Allegany as she was employed at DeMott’s Pharmacy.
She is survived by three daughters: Debra (James) Anderson of Ruston, LA, Julie (Jeffrey) James of Hermitage, PA, and Marcia (Sean) Reynolds of Glen Mills, PA, son-in-law Joseph Cuffari (Lori) of Millstone Twp, NJ, and one son, Paul (Sue) Boller of Kenneth City, FL.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren who were the absolute joys of her life. Joshua (Randi) Anderson- Frazier, Norma Grace and Ansel. Maura (Phil) Dougherty- Donovan, Ross James, Lauren James, Hannah Cuffari and Paul Cuffari, Kyle (Rachel) Reynolds-Abigail. Scott (Sarah) Hayes- Elijah and Owen. Jo Ann also had 3 step grandchildren, Jerry, Joel and Elizabeth Anderson and 15 step great great grandchildren.She was honored to be God Mother to, her first niece, Kristine Beckman Meisel, deceased, Christopher White, Erie, PA. and Justin Lloyd, New Port Richey, FL. JoAnn (Nama) and Chuck (Papa) traveled many miles to spend time with their grandchildren. Their home was open each summer for their grandchildren to enjoy summer vacations in Port Allegany and swimming lessons at the community pool. Nama was famous for her Nama Jogie Applesauce, and it was a favorite at every meal.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one daughter, Lori Cuffari, a sister, Betty K. Beckman, brother-in-law, Leland Beckman, and son-in-law, Jim Anderson.
Jo Ann was an avid reader and later listened to books on tape supplied by the Blind Association. She was a member of several card clubs, played dominoes, and enjoyed meeting new friends on her WebTV Christian Chatroom.She went to water aerobics with girlfriends at the YMCA and enjoyed going to the Port Fitness Center with her husband, Chuck.
When she moved away from Port she kept in touch with friends via Facebook and made many new friends at St. Paul’s Continuing Care Community. She was truly the salt of the earth, known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She had the “gift of gab” and could strike up conversations with anyone leaving them smiling and feeling at ease. Her love for music was an integral part of her personality. She enjoyed a variety of musical genres and dancing to a few, too. She was a loyal and caring friend and valued her relationships with others deeply. She enjoyed spending time with children and delighted in their playful behaviors. Throughout her life she loved many dogs, especially her last dog, her precious Molly.
Throughout her life she faced challenges with quiet determination, perseverance and love. Above all she was a loving mother/grandmother, whose family was the center of her world. Her abounding love, guidance, and fun loving spirit will be forever missed and deeply cherished.
A celebration of Jo Ann’s life will be held in St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church. 116 Arnold Ave., Port Allegany, PA on Saturday, April 11th with visitation from 10:00AM – 11:00AM.

Donald B. Frybarger, 70, of Coudersport, passed away at home Saturday, January 10, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born October 12, 1955, in Lancaster, PA to Ivan F. and Jane (Skiles) Frybarger, he graduated from high school, and on January 29, 1977, he married Karin Risser, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Donald owned his own automotive garage, and was a member of the New Holland United Methodist Church. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, his smoke house, and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.
Donald is survived by his wife: Karin Frybarger of Coudersport; a daughter: Kristy Ackaki (Eddy) of Denver, PA; two grandchildren: Paige N. Gray and Logan M. Surabian; and a great-grandchild: River. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Kelly Surabian, and two brothers: Michael and Thomas Frybarger.

Brian L. Geyer, 49, of St. Marys, passed away at his home on Friday, January 9, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer and surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
He was born on August 21, 1976 in St. Marys, a son of the late John “Jack” Geyer, who preceded him in death in 2010, and Irene Sweeney Geyer, who survives of Pasadena, MD.
Brian was a lifelong resident of the area and worked as a machinist for many years. An avid gun collector, Brian enjoyed collecting and shooting guns with his close friends. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed going to camp and fishing. Brian was a talented leather worker, crafting beautiful and intricate gifts for family and friends. He also enjoyed restoring cast iron, and could take anything and make it look new. A few years ago, Brian realized his dream of wanting to go to Egypt. He planned extensively to go on that trip and even purchased a new camera to take photos of the pyramids, enjoying every moment in Egypt. Though he had a quiet demeanor, Brian was witty and enjoyed joking around with those who knew him best.
In addition to his beloved mother, Brian is survived by a sister; Rebecca Kopp and her husband Adam of Pasadena, MD, and by his special niece and goddaughter; Adell Detwiler. He is also survived by a host of dear friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins, including his lifelong best friend; Adrian Bevaqua and his cousin; Randy Geyer.
A Memorial Service for Brian L. Geyer will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 19, 2026 at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Family and friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Penn Highlands Community Nurses Hospice.

Sharon E. Cunningham (Sheri), 69, of Greeves Street, passed away Wednesday, January 7, at UPMC Hamot, with her loving family by her side.
She was born June 27, 1956, in Kane, the daughter of the late C. Richard Hodgdon and Joanne Terry Snyder. On August 31, 1974, in Kane, she married Thomas Cunningham, who survives.
Sheri was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and caring sister who found joy in cooking, gardening, sewing, working puzzles, and watching the Indianapolis Colts.
As a mother and grandmother, Sheri’s love knew no bounds. Her family was her greatest pride, and she poured herself into caring for them, guiding them, and celebrating them. Her presence brought warmth and reassurance, and her love will continue to be felt through the generations she helped shape.
Sheri was the owner of the Limberlost Restaurant and later worked at the Texas Hot. She was known for her strong work ethic and for the lifelong connections she formed with employees, coworkers, and members of the community she served.
Robert P. “Bob” STROMBERG, 97, of Cromwell, CT, formerly of Port Allegany, PA, died November 29, 2025.

Vicki Hazen, 71, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 7) in the Lutheran Home at Kane, where she had resided. She was born Oct. 25, 1954 in Kane, the daughter of the late Jack and Joyce (Spence) Bundy.
She retired after many years of employment at Warren State Hospital, where she worked in several different positions.
Vicki is survived by two sons, Bob (Jessica McKeirnan) Hazen of Crosby and Ken Wilson of Kane; two grandsons, Jacob and Levi Hazen; a granddaughter, Riley Hazen; a sister Marsha Morrison of Kane; a daughter-in-law Tessa Hazen and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, James M. Hazen; a sister, Bonnie Orinko and two brothers Jack and Mike Bundy.
Walter Arthurs, 73, of Bridge St. in Mt. Jewett, passed away Sunday (Jan. 4) at his residence. He was born June 27, 1952, in Kane, the son of the late Stanley and Anna (Lilley) Arthurs.
Walt had worked at the tannery in Mt. Jewett and then at Northern Hardwood Rounds. He then worked at and retired from the Allegheny Particleboard plant.
He is survived by one daughter, Leslie Arthurs of Bradford; one granddaughter, Leah Arthurs; two grandsons, Levi and Liam Arthurs; three sisters, Jane (Richard) Armstrong of Lantz Corners, Sandy (Dennis) Davis of Warren and Bonnie (Brian) Sees of Mt. Jewett; three brothers, Robert (Mary) Arthurs and James (Anna) Arthurs, both of Mt. Jewett and Paul (Pam) Arthurs of Hazel Hurst and several nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth Durnell, 89, of South Settlement Road, passed away Tuesday (January 6, 2026) with her loving family by her side.
Born January 18, 1936, in Kane, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Selma (Carlson) Mohney. On July 9, 1955, she married Ira “Herk” Durnell, who survives. Together they shared 70 wonderful devoted years of marriage.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Kane High School and was employed throughout her lifetime by Sears, US Forest Service and Ham Dam products. Her most important role in life was being a homemaker and a caring loving wife, mother, “NaNa”, sister and friend, as well as a special aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
Liz loved gardening and grew beautiful flowers. Up until the end, Liz maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends and expressed her gratitude for her long life.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Ira, are a daughter, Cindy (Ricky) Smith; a son, Steve (Jackie) Durnell, all of Kane; four sisters, Ann (Dave) Kearney, Patricia (John) Moore, Sandy (Harry) Spaulding and Sue (Tim)Mishic; a brother, Henry (Dotty) Mohney; five grandchildren, Kyle (Allie) Durnell, Jacob Durnell, Vanessa Hannah, Tyler (Brooke) Smith, Zachary (Shelby) Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Chase Ira, Willow Mae and Blair Elizabeth, with a fourth great-grandchild on the way in April. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Betty L. Evingham “beloved mother and grandmother”
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA—Betty L. Evingham, 94, of Shinglehouse, passed away unexpectedly with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY.
Born on Saturday, July 11, 1931 in Bradford, she was a daughter of Leonard and Elizabeth Monroe Hosmer. On June 22, 1952 in Rixford, she married Emery J. “Jug” Evingham, who passed away on January 31, 1997.
Betty was a graduate of Otto-Eldred High School. She was employed by the former AVX Corporation in Olean, NY and was also employed at the former Howard’s Hardware in Shinglehouse, the former Westons Shoppers City in Westons Mills, NY and later went back to AVX Corporation until her retirement.
Betty had many different names, including Mom, Grandma, Great-grandma, Meme, aunt or friend. She had a personality that made everyone smile. She made everyone she came in contact with feel special and welcomed.
In her younger years, Betty loved to dance, having been a fantastic dancer with her husband. She often commented about how her love of dance began with square dancing in school. She also talked about fun times with her friends.
David “Russ” McCracken, 87, of School Street, Rixford, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Bradford Manor.
Born May 22, 1938, in Sayre, he was a son of the late Warren and Frances (Stedge) McCracken. Warren died and Frances remarried Ralph Deitz who raised Russ.
Russ attended Sayre High School. He joined the United States Navy on December 21, 1962, where he received his GED. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on January 8, 1965.
On August 12, 1961, at the Church of the Epiphany Rectory in Sayre, he married Alice V. (Norton) McCracken who passed away on May 21, 2021.
Russ worked at Ingersol Rand Corporation in Athens, and then as a supervisor at Stowe Manufacturing in Binghamton NY. After he retired, he and his wife moved to Rixford to reside near their daughter. In his retirement he delivered tires for Stoney North, he also truly enjoyed singing and rebuilding small engines and tractors.
