Nancy A. Fire, 74, of Bradford, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at her home.
She was born on February 22, 1951 in Bradford; the daughter of the late Frank and Christine Ross Fire.
She was a 1969 graduate of the former Bradford Central Christian High School. She was a graduate of the Clarion University; where she earned her Bachelor’s degree. She had also earned her Master’s degree.

James Anthony Nicholson, 91, of Plymouth Meeting, PA formerly of Ambler, PA, and Worcester, MA, died peacefully on November 19, 2025, surrounded by family. He was the husband of Lucille (Wilson) Nicholson. James was born in Baldwinville, MA, on February 2, 1934, to the late Patrick and Anne (MacPherson) Nicholson.
They were a family of modest means but an abundance of love, which carried him throughout his life. He attended Saint John’s High School in Worcester, MA, and graduated from Saint Francis Xavier in Nova Scotia in the top of his class with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He began his career as a Chemist with Merck, later transitioning to Rhone-Poulenc Rorer / Sanofi Aventis Pharmaceuticals, working as a Patent Agent in the Legal Department.
Gail Anita Harkness SCHROEDER, 81, of Clermont, FL, formerly of Wellsville, NY, died September 7, 2025 in South Lake Hospital, Clermont.
Born March 1, 1944, she was the daughter of Clyde and Clara Burgess Sherwood. On September 12, 1998, in Wellsville, she married Michael Shroeder, who predeceased her in 2023.
Luella E. KEAR, 96, of Whitesville, NY, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 18, 2025 in her home. Born September 28, 1929, in Whitesville, she was the daughter of Edward Michael and Martha Elizabeth “Mattie” Buchholz Flynn. On December 11, 1949, in Whitesville, she married Allan C. Kear, who predeceased her on October 26, 1999.
She was employed by Mapes Woodworking in Whitesville, Whitesville Central School, and Wellsville Elementary School. Luella was a member of 50-year member of the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Independence Gospel Fellowship Church, Red Hat Society, Wellsville Moose Club, and in August 2022, she was crowned Queen of Whitesville as the oldest living woman during the town’s bicentennial celebration.

Francis E. “Pappy” Cummings, 100, of Port Allegany, passed away Friday (November 21, 2025) at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
He was born May 20, 1925 in Port Allegany, the son of Lee and Clara (Peterson) Cummings. On October 14, 1950, in Port Allegany, PA, he married Rosemarie Pritt, who passed away on November 1, 2017. They were married 67 years.
He was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and a proud survivor from engaging the enemy on Iwo Jima, serving from 1943 to 1946 as an Armored Amphibian Tractor Crewman.
Bonnie L. (Lewis) Pierce, age 78, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. She was born on April 27, 1947, in Elmira, NY, a daughter of the late Duane D. Lewis and the late Christine (Clark) Cook, and was married to the late Gerald J. Pierce and was formerly employed by Wundies as a seamstress. She attended the Mt. Zion Full Gospel Church, Wellsboro, PA, enjoyed sewing, couponing, doves and was a member of the Morris 55 Club and the Ornament Club.
She is survived by a daughter: Tonya (Tim) Wilkinson of Wellsboro, PA, sons: G. Scott (Debra Lockett) Pierce of Wellsboro, PA, Brent (Ryan Bates) Pierce of Covington, PA, sisters: Debra (Rick Bloom) Losey of Knoxville, PA, Karen (Frank) Shutter of Honeoye, NY, brother: Robert (Lynne Steadman) Lewis of Elkland, PA, 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

SHINGLEHOUSE, PA—Carman J. Drake, 82, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born on Wednesday, April 21, 1943 in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of Leon F. and Elizabeth Burrows Drake.
Carman was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. She was employed for many years at St. Bonaventure University in Food Services and later in Housekeeping until her retirement.
For several years, Carman attended the Bolivar 4-C’s senior center.
Left to cherish her memory are a brother, Denver D. (Sue) Drake of Shinglehouse; two sisters, Fawzia DeLong of Salem. WV and Rachel (Wayne) Bollinger of York; and her nieces and nephews.
Port Allegany, PA- Cynthia Ann Carinci “Loving Mother, Grandmother & Sister”
Cynthia A. Carinci, 71, of Route 155 passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 14, 2025.
Cynthia was born October 31, 1954, in Olean and was the daughter of Byron Elwood and Anna Madelon Marvin Lawson. On November 2, 1974, in Derrick City, she married Mark J. Carinci who predeceased her on March 3, 2021.
Cynthia was a 1972 graduate of Allegany High School. She worked in a couple of places, including the Shop N Save deli in Port Allegany as a baker, and also for the Port Allegany School in the cafeteria until her retirement.
Frances I. STOREY, 94, of Coudersport, PA, died Saturday, November 15, 2025 in the arms of her husband at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport. Born December 14, 1930, in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of James C. and Margaret E. Stanley Truax.
On June 2, 1962, in Coudersport, she married Arthur R. Storey, who survives. She was employed by Motorola in Arcade, NY, Galeton Production, and “Park’s Ark” at Park United Methodist Church in Coudersport. Fran was a member of the Sweden Valley Faith United Methodist Church and active in local bowling leagues.
Surviving besides her husband, Art, are: two children, William (Linda) Kottwitz of St. Marys and Sharon (Ronald) Haskins of Coudersport; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Milford Truax of Byron, NY and Winston (Barb) Truax of Shongo, NY; nieces and nephews.
Katherine A. “Kathi” HUNT, 61, of Wellsville, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by her family following a long battle with cancer. Born on Christmas Day 1963, Kathi was the oldest daughter of Bruce Hunt and Betty (Eugene) Lewis, both of Wellsville.
A 1983 Graduate of Wellsville High School, Kathi spent many years as a home health caregiver and found great pride in her work. Kathi had a special affinity for flower gardening, crafting, and event planning. She shared her many talents with friends and family. Spoiling every furry companion she had over the course of her life, Kathi was a big animal lover and encouraged everyone to “share their yogurt” with them. In her free time, Kathi enjoyed time spent with Greg on “The Hill” cooking out and buggy riding with family and special friends, Jeannine and Art Newman, Mary and Mike Fisk, and Matt “Wildflower” Sturdevant. Spending much of the warmer months on the back of Greg’s Harley, she enjoyed exploring their favorite routes.
Janet H. Dippold, 90, of 105 Wilson Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Pinecrest Manor.
She was born March 31, 1935, in St. Marys at her home on Ford Road, daughter of the late Romandus and Mary Nekuza Schreiber. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of St. Marys High School. She took great pride and joy in her work as cafeteria manager at St. Marys Parochial School, where she retired after thirty-two years.
On May 5, 1956, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Janet married Carl R. Dippold, who survives. They were blessed to share sixty-nine years of marriage.
Patricia A. Esterbrook, 73, of Warren, PA., died Tuesday afternoon, November 18, 2025, at John & Orpha Blair Hospice Home, Warren, PA. She was born September 14, 1952, in Warren, PA. She was the daughter of Wayne and Nellie Schatzle Barhight. Patricia was a life-long Warren area resident. She was a 1970 graduate of Warren Area High School. Patricia was employed with the former P.D.M. for 5 years, when they built the St. Louis Arch. She also was employed for 44 years, at Betts Industries as an executive assistant to Richard Betts and was an export coordinator of foreign sales, retiring in 2019. She was an active member at Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golfing, playing the piano and cello.
Mildred “Kathy” MATRONE, 82, of Port Allegany, PA, died Monday, November 17, 2025 in her home. Born March 19, 1943, in Port Allegany, she was the daughter of Frank W. and Mildred B. Clark Roller. On June 5, 1959, in Port Allegany, she married Louis J. “Nick” Matrone, who predeceased her on July 24, 2014. Surviving are: a daughter, Louann M. (Jim) Barr of Port Allegany; a granddaughter, Jamie Payne of Port Allegany; her caregiver who was like a granddaughter to her, Jennifer Welder of Port Allegany; a sister, Lois M. Payne of Turtlepoint; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for William H. “Bill” Grandin, 87, a lifelong resident of Roulette, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Riverside United Methodist Church, 30 River Street, Roulette. A Masonic service will be held at 11 AM immediately followed by members of the Potter County Guard who will accord military honors. A memorial service will then be held with Pastor Jim Cannistraci, officiating. Lunch will follow at the church. Burial will be at Hill Cemetery, Roulette, with members of the Roulette Fire Department according Bill’s last call to service.

Robert L. “Bobby” Lindsey, 65, of Johnsonburg, PA, formerly of Emporium, passed away Tuesday morning (November 18, 2025) at DuBois Nursing Home in DuBois, PA. He was born November 27, 1959, in Cuba, New York, a son of the late Raymond and Velma Mosier Lindsey, Jr.
Bobby enjoyed tinkering, fixing things, and working on cars, and he especially loved taking on a challenging jigsaw puzzle. Years ago, he worked in maintenance, where his mechanical ability and willingness to help others were well appreciated.

Ella Mae HAXTON, 91, of Wellsville, NY, died Friday, November 14, 2025, in Wellsville Manor Care Center. Born March 10, 1934, in Coudersport, PA, she was the daughter of Richard William and Eva Mae Rogers Smith. She was married to Lawrence C. Haxton, who predeceased her on November 11, 2006. Ella Mae was a homemaker, raising her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are: her children, Lawerence Haxton Jr. of Wellsville, Alysia Gardner of Belmont, Donna Gapa of SC, Ralph Haxton of Wellsville, and Ron Weeks of PA; a daughter-in-law, Alice Haxton of Gainesville; a granddaughter she raised as a child, Grace (Jeremiah) Burnell of Belmont; several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joyce M. CAVANAUGH, 79, of Whitesville, NY, died Saturday, November 15, 2025 in UR Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville. Born May 22, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of Henry and Laura Danks. Joyce was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Philadelphia. On August 11, 1965, in Bucks County, PA, she married Patrick J. Cavanaugh, who survives.
She was employed by Tastykake in Philadelphia, drove school bus in Bucks County, and managed a horse farm in Tyler State Park. In 1985, she and her husband moved to Whitesville and operated Cavanaugh Farms.
Susan Peterson Cooper, 63, of Warren, PA., died at her residence, Sunday afternoon, November 16, 2025, after an extended illness. She is the wife of Robert “Bob” J. Cooper. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Helen Virginia Caffo Carlson, who left us peacefully on November 14, 2025 at the age of 83. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she lived a full life of love, kindness and dedication to her family and community.
Born on December 5, 1941, in Port Allegany, PA, “Ginny” was the eldest child of Albert “Bert” and Ruth Caffo. The eldest of three children, Ginny attended Port Allegany High School where she was a class officer and clarinet player. She continued her education at The Pennsylvania State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics in 1963. Her years at Penn State were filled with cheering at football games, swimming with the “Naiads” synchronized swimming club and sharing adventures with her dear roommate, Sandy Stake.
Samuel George Deeter, 79, passed peacefully, on November 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on September 24, 1946, in Meadville, he was the son of Martin George Deeter and Ethel Elizabeth (Rhoades) Deeter.
In October 1985, he married Sherlyn “Sherry” (Sayers) Deeter and resided in Bradford, for many years. Sam’s kindness, humor, courage, and unwavering commitment to the Lord and his family touched everyone he encountered.
Merlin A. BELTON, 89, of Coudersport, PA, formerly of Hamburg, died Saturday, November 15, 2025, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born October 24, 1936, in Hamburg, he was the son of James and Carrie Ketner Belton. On October 27, 1956, in West Hamburg, he married Shirley A. Shollenberger, who predeceased him on March 22, 2022. He owned and operated a Mort’s Floor Cleaning Service.
