GABE STILLMAN AND KAT RIGGINS RETURN TO WELLSBORO TO PERFORM TOGETHER AT BYOB CONCERTS ON FRIDAY, OCT. 28 AND SATURDAY, OCT. 29
The Deane Center for the Performing Arts welcomes the special pairing of two award-winning blues artists. Gabe Stillman with his hard stompin’ blues and Kat Riggins with her powerful, soulful vocals are meeting again for must-see performances at 7 p.m. next Friday, Oct. 28 and at 7 p.m. next Saturday, Oct. 29 on the Deane Center’s Coolidge Theatre stage.
Stillman will demonstrate his guitar prowess, the maturity of his vocals, and the telling of universal life stories with his clever and thoughtful self-penned songs.
After receiving the Gibson Guitar Award at the Memphis Tennessee-based International Blues Challenge in 2019, Stillman’s career immediately took off. His third release, “Just Say the Word,” was his first full-length project with a generous 15 tracks, including 13 originals. It received international acclaim and debut charted at #10 on Billboard Blues.
The blues music industry continues to take notice of Stillman’s work as a performer, musician and songwriter honoring him with multiple key nominations, including a Blues Music Award nomination for Best Emerging Artist Album.
He recently received two nominations for a Blues Blast Award and six for the Independent Music Awards. The Central Pa. Music Awards honored Stillman’s band as the Best PA Blues Band. Touring has taken him throughout the mid-west and to Denmark. He has also been recognized for opening for Robert Cray and ZZ Top.
Florida-based Kat Riggins is riding high with her new release on Gulf Coast Records, “Progeny.” Often compared to Etta James, Tina Turner and KoKo Taylor, Riggin’s voice and her tasteful infusion of vocal nuances have set her apart. Her songs are delivered with passion and purpose. Riggins mission is to connect with her audience from her first step onto the stage.
A frequent international performer, Riggins takes her “Blues Revival” message around the globe; preaching, in her own way, the need to honor and perpetuate the blues art form.
She has received Blues Music Award nominations for Best Contemporary Blues Album and Best Female Soul Blues Artist. Riggins was the recipient of the 2021 Independent Blues Awards for Best Contemporary Blues Band and Best Contemporary Blues Album.
