District IV Legislators have scheduled their district meeting for Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Andover Village Hall, 35 E Greenwood St., Andover, NY 14806.
This meeting is being held for general discussion of mutual problems and interests. If there are any specific topics you would like to have addressed, please let one of your District IV Legislators know, and they will try to provide a speaker for a future meeting.
Please give notice of this meeting to your town and village board members, as well as to members of the public, and encourage everyone to attend. Everyone is welcome to attend even if they do not live in District IV.

Members of the Galeton Area School ROAR team, which consists of students in grades 4-5-6, are pictured holding flags that will be placed on veteran’s graves in West Hill Cemetery in Galeton, PA for Memorial Day. Also in photo are teachers Mrs. Batterson and Mrs. Swartz. The students, along with other volunteers, would take the old flags off and replace with the new ones and the old flags will be properly disposed of by the Raymond Richar Post #6611 which also provided the new flags. The event was coordinated by VFW Commander Bob Kalacinski and by Quartermaster Barb Kalacinski. The winners will be honored at the 2024 PA Wilds Dinner & Awards, to be held on Thursday, July 25, at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. The theme for this year’s dinner is “The Road Less Traveled Makes All the Difference,” nodding to the Declaration of Principles for the Pennsylvania Wilds.
The Champion of the Pennsylvania Wilds Awards celebrate individuals, organizations, communities and businesses that are making significant contributions to grow and sustainably develop the outdoor recreation economy and nature tourism in the Pennsylvania Wilds. There are nine award categories open for public nominations. Nominations for 2024 awards were due by April 1.
“It was difficult for the selection committee to choose winners this year, because there were so many high-quality nominations,” said Beth Pellegrino, PA Wilds Center Board Member and Outreach Committee chair. “These individuals, businesses, and organizations go above and beyond. They truly embody the values of the PA Wilds Center, and we are eager to spend the evening on July 25 taking some time to elevate their stories and celebrate how they continue to make the PA Wilds region a fantastic place to live, work, and travel.”
Registration is now open for the 2024 PA Wilds Dinner & Awards, which will be held at the University of Pittsburgh in Bradford, McKean County, on Thursday, July 25. The social hour and exhibitor displays begin at 3 p.m., followed by dinner and award presentations between 5 and 9 p.m.
Pre-registration is required by 5 p.m. ET July 17 at PAWildsCenter.org/program. Early bird registration of $30 per ticket is available until 5 p.m. ET June 20. After June 20, the cost is $35 per ticket.

Join our dynamic team as a Manufacturing Process Engineer where you will play a pivotal role in designing, defining, and planning manufacturing processes. You’ll be responsible for specifying and overseeing the installation of new processes, planning equipment build schedules, and monitoring vendor progress. The Laurel Festival 10K, sponsored by First Citizens Community Bank, will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 15 followed at 9:05 a.m. by the two-mile Fun Run/Walk. The 10K course has rolling hills, paved and dirt surfaces, and exciting Pennsylvania Grand Canyon country views.
Planning to attend the Laurel Festival Parade on Saturday, June 15? Reserve chairs in advance for $5 each now through Thursday, June 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays by calling the chamber at 570-724-1926. Proceeds will benefit the Relay For Life of Tioga County.

Have a cat, dog, chicken, goat, guinea pig or other pet?
Children, ages 12 and under, are invited to preregister their best dressed, cutest, smartest, prettiest or most lovable pets in Tioga County or decorated bicycles, battery-operated three or four wheelers or wagons by 4 p.m. next Friday, May 31 for the 2024 Pet Parade being held on Sunday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. at Packer Park on Queen Street. Groups are welcome to participate, too. It’s free. There is no entry fee.

The Port Allegany Women’s Club is excited to announce the line-up, thus far, for the 2024 COTS (Concerts On The Town Square) Series. Until renovations on the Town Square are completed, the concerts will be held on the side yard of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church located on Arnold Avenue. New this year, in case of inclement weather, the concerts will be held indoors at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Educational Unit, also located on Arnold Avenue.
The COTS are held each Thursday evening beginning at 6 p.m. Food will be sold including hot dogs, chips, baked goods and beverages. At times there will be additional offerings such as sloppy joes or hot sausage sandwiches. Proceeds from the food sales go to local community organizations and the 50/50 raffle money goes to PACS.
The schedule for performers is as follows: In June Chris Eckert on the 6th; After Today Band on the 13th; Rachael Karwowski and PAHS Performers on the 20th; and on the 17th, the Kane Guitar Band.
In July, there will be no concert on the 4th due to the holiday; The Twin Tiers Community BAnd will perform on the 11th; Alex Cole on the 18th; and Jerry Kilcoin – Hummin and Strumming on the 25th. RSVP with Joel Anderson will kick off the month of August followed by Dan Roche on the 8th and Randy Andreano on the 15th. Two spots are still open for August – the 22nd and 29th. KERSEY – Northern Pennsylvania Regional College celebrated their annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. The event took place at The Red Fern in Kersey, with 17 students being recognized for completing their certificate or degree programs. Three students were recognized in absentia.
President Snelick opened the ceremony sharing words about the graduates and the milestone that they accomplished.

The Port Allegany Music Department presented Jazz and Java recently at Port Allegany High School. The concert featured the Senior High Jazz Band and the Junior High Jazz Band, both under the direction of Mr. Brad Stewart. The Senior HIgh Jazz Band played seven numbers including Moon River, Blue Bossa and Vehicle.
The Junior High Jazz Band played three numbers including Moanin’, Rockin’ Robin and Drumtime. S’Wonderful, a clarinet solo, was performed by Raelin Meacham. Following the performance, refreshments were served in the Main Foyer.
