As of 2023, as many as 6.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease according to the CDC. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia and involves parts of the brain that control thought, memory, and language. It’s progressive, meaning that symptoms will start off mildly and then gradually become more severe. Once symptoms get to this point, it can seriously affect a person’s ability to take care of themselves and perform everyday activities.

The program year is divided into two parts: (1) 40 hours of basic training weekly classes between October 2023 through March 2024, and (2) 50 hours of practical volunteer projects to be completed by September 30, 2024.

Bradford, PA — The United Way of the Bradford Area, Inc. will be holding an informational meeting for 501 (c ) 3 non-profit organizations in the Bradford, Smethport and Port Allegany areas looking for funding the in the 2024 calendar year. The meeting, referred to as the ‘Agency Breakfast’, will be held on Friday, August 18th at 8:30am at the Marilyn Horne Hall Assembly Room, located at 2 Marilyn Horne Way in Bradford.
If you are currently or are interested in becoming a funded agency of the United Way of the Bradford Area, Inc. you will need to make arrangements to attend this informational meeting. The Community Impact application will be discussed and information regarding the campaign and the future funding cycles will be shared. SEASON KICKOFF FOR THE HAMILTON-GIBSON TREBLE CHOIR IS NEXT THURSDAY, AUG. 17, 2ND TO 8TH GRADE SINGERS CAN REGISTER FOR CHOIR FOR FREE
The 2023-2024 Season Kickoff for the Hamilton-Gibson Treble Choir begins at 10 a.m. next Thursday, Aug. 17 at His Thousand Hills Retreat Center in Delmar Township, near Wellsboro.
The kickoff will give fifth through eighth grade girls and boys who have already joined the Treble Choir or are considering joining, a chance to get to know one another and dig into the new music they will be singing. The day will end with a potluck dinner for the choir and parents who will stay to listen to what the choir worked on during the day, and to find out about the upcoming season.

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a pipe replacement project will close a portion of Route 1016 (Baker Road) in Jackson Township, Tioga County.
On Monday, August 21, 2023, through Wednesday, August 30, 2023, Baker Road will be closed between Hill Road and Jennings Road, while a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) maintenance crew performs pipe replacements.
A detour using Jennings Road, Hamilton Road, and Route 549 in Bradford and Tioga counties will be in place for the duration of the project. Work will be performed during daylight hours.
Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, and drive with caution.

John Abplanalp Honored at NPRC’s Faculty Development Day
