Bert Michael Obleski, 94, of Roulette, PA
Bert Michael Obleski, 94, of Roulette, PA, entered eternal rest Friday (October 4, 2024). His death at 94 years young culminates an industrious and joyous life of devotion and service as a dedicated father to his family and small town community.
Bert was born September 19, 1930 to Michael and Mary (Prochko) Obleski in Laninger Creek, Roulette Twp., Potter County, PA.
He was a student of Roulette Schools and High School. Following school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1946 and proudly served as a Seaman 1st Class and was honorably discharged from the Navy on the 26th day of December, 1949.
On August 20, 1953, in Niagara Falls, NY, he married the love of his life, Gloria Marie Pino of Niagara Falls, who preceded him in death January 9, 2012. Also preceding him in death were brothers John, George, Michael and sisters Freda, Cecil, Kathryn, and Mary. Their union produced the following three sons: Bert (Glynna Baker) Obleski of Denver, CO, Michael (Carol) Obleski of Evergreen, CO and James (Rebecca) Obleski of Port Allegany, PA, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Elizabeth Neville.
Not one to “let grass grow under his feet”, Bert’s employment through the years included excavating and over 30 plus years working at Pierce Glass (Indian Head Corp.), Port Allegany, from where he retired.
Bert spent a lifetime serving and mentoring the youth of his community, and his legacy will be well known for generations as an umpire in many youth baseball programs. He also was an avid baseball and softball player. Along with sports, he enjoyed deer, turkey and rabbit hunting, trout fishing, pitching horseshoes and raising many generations of Beagles.
In addition to his local acclaim as a baseball player and baseball enthusiast, Bert will also be long remembered as a lifetime member of the Roulette Fire Dept., Chemical Engine #1 and a lifetime member of the Roulette Fish & Game Club.
Per his request, there will be no viewing or funeral services. Burial will be in the Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette.
