Billie R. Coy HOWELL, 52, of Wellsville, NY, died Monday, April 3, 2023 in St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, PA.  

Born December 22, 1970, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Arnold C. and Helen P. Armstrong Coy.  In 1993, she married Michael D. Howell, who survives.  

A 1989 high honors graduate of Wellsville Central School, she earned an associate’s degree in elementary education from Alfred State College.  She also attended SUNY Oswego, studying elementary education.  Billie was employed by Ames in Wellsville, Wellsville Manor, and Wellsville Central School as a substitute teacher.  She home-schooled her two children.  

Excelling in crafts, she enjoyed working with jewelry, resin, and scrapbooking.  Billie was a member of Yorks Corners Mennonite Church.  She loved her children immensely and cared for her nieces and nephews like they were her own.  

Surviving besides her husband, Michael, are:  two children, Adam Howell and Amy Howell;  a brother Matthew (Consuelo) Coy of Wellsville;  two sisters, Caroline (James) Hubbard of Wellsville and Angela (William) Cunningham of SC;  a special sister, Dawn Schoenthal of Poca, WV;  two aunts, Sharon (Les) Balch of Wellsville and Paula Borden of Centralia, IL;   nieces and nephews.  S

he was predeceased by her parents;  and paternal grandparents, Walter “Skip” and Edna Coy.  

Friends may call at Yorks Corners Mennonite Church, 3350 County Road 29, Wellsville, NY on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, with a Memorial Service following at 1:00 PM.  Pastor Matt Havens will officiate.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville.

Nathan H. SCOTT, 83, of Whitesville NY, died Monday, April 3, 2023 in Highland Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Wellsville. 

Born June 28, 1939, in Cuba, he was the son of William R. and Vivian J. Smith Scott.  On January 9, 1998, in Las Vegas, NV, he married the former Vickie L. Bledsoe, who survives. 

Delphine L. Johnson Campagna, 67, of Warren, PA, died Monday evening, April 3, 2023, at Titusville Hospital, Titusville, PA., after suffering an apparent heart attack. 

Delphine was born October 29, 1955, in Warren, PA.  She was the daughter of Delton Johnson and Constance “Connie” Froman Johnson Slater.  She has lived in Warren most of her entire life.   Delphine was a 1974 graduate of Warren Area High School.  She loved her cats and her grandkids.

She is survived by her daughter – Anita Wolfe and her husband, Shannon of Jamestown, N.Y., 1 Sister – Debbie Braley and husband, Tim of Warren, PA., 5 Grandchildren – Corey Burt, Karissa Kontz, Skylar Beckford, Caden Beckford, Nevaeh Harris, 2 Step Grandchildren, 1 Step Great Granddaughter, 1 Great Grandson, 1 Great Granddaughter, several nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Frank Joseph Campagna, Jr., who died August 27, 2017, whom she married November 23, 1974, in Warren, PA., 1 Brother – Daniel Lee Johnson.

James M. Greville III, 39, of Spruce Ave. in Kane, PA passed away early Tuesday morning (April 4) from injuries received in an ATV accident.  He was born in Kane on Aug. 5, 1983, the son of James (Kathy) Greville II of Kane and Rita Greville of Daytona, FL.

Jim worked at Ardagh Group Glass in Port Allegany as an electrician.  Prior to that he had done many satellite installations throughout the area and also managed the Carhartt portion of his father’s Photo and Sound store in Kane.  He hurdled and high jumped for the Kane track team while in high school and had been on the all-time list for high jump for many years.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Arianna and Jocelyn Greville, both of Kane; one sister, Erica Wirta of Appleton, WI; one stepsister, Ashley Parik of Chicago, IL and his paternal grandmother, Dolores “Dee” Greville, of Kane.  He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and several children who he raised like his own, including, Kayin Bard, Addison, Silas, Easton and Leonidas Plants.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Greville Sr. and his maternal grandparents, Fred and Delores “Dody” Johnson.

Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home on Friday (April 7) from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  A luncheon will follow at the Kane Fire Hall at 6:00 p.m.

Michael G. McBreen, 71, of Bear Rd., Emporium, PA formerly of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his residence, Emporium, PA on Tuesday morning (April 4, 2023). He was born July 6, 1951 in Altoona, PA a son of the late Donald and Jean Griffith McBreen. On February 27, 1971 in Ebensburg, PA he married Nancy Makin, who survives. Mike and Nancy celebrated over 52 years of marriage. 

After high school, Mike served with the US Coast Guard for four years. He then worked for eighteen years in the coal mines and then ten years as a security guard for homeland security. He was a member of the Emporium Moose Lodge, Miller-Raffaele Post 6221, VFW, the Cameron County Memorial Detail, Ebensburg Legion, and was a life member of May Hollow Sportsman Club, and the Sinnamahoning Sportsman Club. He was an avid hunter, trapper, fisherman, and loved being in the outdoors. He and his wife Nancy were able to live out their dream by living in the Hunts Run area.

In addition to his wife Nancy he is survived by two sons, Jeff McBreen, Pittsburgh;

and Josh McBreen (Tifany), Taxas; six grandchildren: Kagan, Mason, Trinity,Tamsyn, Josie and Orion; eight brothers and sisters, Jim McBreen (Susan), Maryland; Shelly Bittinger McBreen, Mechanicsburg, PA; Donald McBreen (Jan), Johnstown; Mark McBreen, Ashville, PA; Scott McBreen (Kathie), Ebensburg, PA; Douglas McBreen (Julie), Carroltown, PA; Kevin McBreen (Tricia), Ebensburg, PA; Martha McBreen (Stacey) Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was was preceded in death by his parents.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation.  There will be a “Celebration of Life” at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Kenneth A. Goodier, age 76, of Osceola, PA passed away on April 2nd, 2023 surrounded by family.

He was born July 21st, 1946, in Corning NY to the late Arthur E. Goodier and Doris H. Space-Campbell. He married Sandra F. Goodier and they spent several loving years together before her passing on Dec 31st, 2012.

Kenneth worked at both the Elkland and Westfield Tannery’s until he started and ran Ken’s Auto and Salvage for 30 plus years at which time he retired, and his boys took over the business. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, competition shooting, working on Art’s stock car with him and visiting family and friends.

Ken leaves behind his children; Laurie (David) Freeman, Robert Goodier both of Osceola, Lisa Repard (Don Bailey) of Westfield and Jackie Fisher of Elkland; daughter-in-law; Melinda Goodier and son-in-law; George Pryslak. Ken is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 28 great- grandchildren, sister; Ellen Moon, brother-in-law; Roy (Deb) Mitchell, sisters-in-law; Joyce (David) Cook, Carol Goodier and Shirley Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife; Sandra, daughter; Roxanne Pryslak, son; Arthur Goodier, brother; Thomas Goodier, stepbrother; William Campbell, brother-in-law; Floyd Moon and granddaughter; Brittney Lowe.

Betty Jo Tanner, 88, of Elkland, PA passed away on March 31, 2023.

Betty grew up in Virginia where she met the love of her life, Guy Tanner, with whom she happily shared 61 years together.

Betty was a fiercely dedicated mom and homemaker. Holidays were always special. She loved animals with a passion. She enjoyed working in her yard, flea marketing and visiting with her friends.

Betty was preceded by her husband, Guy Tanner.

Surviving are her 3 sons, Guy Tanner of Big Flats, NY, Gary (Yvonne) Tanner and Scott (Lisa) Tanner; 3 grandchildren, Stephanie Jacobson, Scott Tanner, Jr. and Kylie (Hamilton) Schoonover; 4 great-grandchildren, Reed and Quinn Jacobson, Kinsley and Carson Schoonover and Dianna Tanner all from the Elkland area; sister, Patsy (Dennis) Holgate of Poquoson, VA; brother, Ross (Gail) Jones of Hampton, VA; brother-in-law, Dale (Danice) Tanner; sister-in-law’s, Jane (Donald) Cook and Earlene Tanner; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Wellsboro Hospital for making Betty’s passing as comfortable as possible. In recognition of Betty’s life and her love for animals, a donation can be made to any animal shelter of your choosing.

William G. Taylor, 88, of Route 646, Gifford, PA passed away Saturday (Apr. 1, 2023) at home, with family by his side.

Born Aug. 15, 1934, he was a son of John H. and Edna V. Gallup Taylor.  On Jun. 12, 1954, in Eldred, he married Faye E. Farrell, who died May 30, 2020. They were married 65 years.

William was employed with Corning Glass Works, Bradford, retiring in 1989, after 21 of service. He also worked with his sons in the family excavating company. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and managed to visit all 50 states.

He was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church of Gifford. He was an avid craftsman who built toys, furniture and designed & built his own home. He also loved to garden.  

He is survived by two sons, David L. (Julie) Taylor of Gifford and Rodney A. Taylor; five grandchildren: Kristin Sledjeski, Kathryn Oberg, Andrew Taylor, David Taylor and Rebecca Williams; and 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his wife Faye, a daughter, Dianna L. Taylor, three brothers: Edward, John Jr., and Raymond L. Taylor; four sisters: Naomi Covert, Beulah Zindren, Beatrice Dann, and Dorothy Kenneson.

Friends will be received from 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday (Apr. 5, 2023) in the Hilltop Baptist Church, Gifford, where a funeral and committal service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Max Simms, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.

Robert W. South, 76, of Harding Avenue, Bradford, PA passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Penn Highlands Hospital, in St Marys. 

Born June 9, 1946, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Harwell and Evelyn J. (Maben) South-Roberts.

On June 17, 1967, in High Point NC, he married Linda (Newton) South, who preceded him in death on November 2, 2021.

Bob was a 1964 graduate of Bradford Area High School.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army on July 9, 1964, and served until his honorable discharge on July 7, 1967.

Bob worked as custodian for the Bradford Area School District for 27 years. In his retirement, he served as the crossing guard for both Fretz and School Street. 

In addition to his love for his family, Bob was deeply devoted to serving his community. He was an original member of the Big 30 All Star Charities Classic Committee serving as Secretary for 47 years before becoming President 3 years ago. He brought joy to many children and families by playing Santa Clause during the holidays throughout the community. Bob operated the scoreboard at many area fields and gymnasiums, including decades of Bradford Owl Football games. He was a long-standing PIAA Track and Field and Cross-Country Official working many local and district meets. He also worked for the Athletic Department at Pitt Bradford. 

Bob was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 108 and VFW Post 212. 

Surviving are three sons, Robert (Amy) South, of St. Johnsbury, VT, Bradley (Gigi Dupont) South, of Bradford, and Brian (Jennifer) South, of Bradford, five grandchildren, Sierra (Danny) Ehlers, Hannah (Cheyenne) Chavis, Audrey South, Lillian South, and Lucas South, three great-grandchildren, Lacey, Scarlett, and Jeremiah, two sisters, Mary Roberts, of Grand Meadow, MN, and  Reba Lynn Williams, of Bradford, one brother, Jack H. (Vicki) Roberts, of Las Vegas, NV, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 54 years, Linda, one brother, Gary South and his mother’s brothers, the Maben’s.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 3 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 E. Main Street. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at the Hilltop Baptist Church, with Rev Max Sims, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded with the United States Army and the Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 108.
