Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that an intersection improvement project continues at the intersection of Route 6, Route 660, and Route 4002 (Charleston Road) in Charleston Township, Tioga County. The intersection is located approximately a half mile east of Route 1001 (Whitneyville Road) and 1.5 miles west of the intersection with Bullock Road.
On Monday, August 28, 2023, Charleston Road will be closed between Route 6 and Whitneyville Road. A detour using Whitneyville Road and Route 6 will be in place for this phase of the project. The detour is expected to remain in place for 30-days, weather permitting.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission recently promoted Lindsay Moawad to director of the agency’s Bureau of Automated Technology Services.
Moawad replaces Deana Vance, who previously was promoted to Deputy Executive Director of Administration.
Women’s Giving Circle of McKean County (WGC), a fund held at the McKean County Community Foundation, announces that applications are now open for grants that will be awarded at their annual meeting on November 2nd. On Tuesday August 22nd, at approximately 1:00 p.m. members of the Cuba Police Department along with the New York State Police K9 Unit executed a search warrant on Hardy Street in the village of Cuba. The search warrant was from a culmination of complaints from the citizens of Cuba and information from tips as well as police operations. Cuba Police entered the residence on Hardy Street and seized cash, methamphetamine and several other items of narcotic paraphernalia.
The following arrest was made in relation to this search warrant:
Erica L. Osgood (42) of Cuba was arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a child (3 counts, Class A Misdemeanors), criminal use of drug paraphernalia 2nd, sub 3 (Class A Misdemeanor), criminal use of drug paraphernalia 2nd, sub 2 (Class A Misdemeanor), criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th (Class A Misdemeanor), criminal possession of a forged instrument 2nd (2 counts, Class D Felonies) and criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd (Class B Felony). Osgood was processed, placed on pre-trial release and released to appear at a later date. Osgood is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. OLEAN, N.Y., August 22, 2023 – Eight Olean High School graduates recently received scholarship awards from funds managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

Leona “Onie” M. Dalton, 93, previously of Clay St. in Kane and Elk Haven Nursing Home in St Marys, passed away Aug. 18, 2023 at Penn Highlands ElkÂ
Born Aug. 28, 1929, in Kane, she is the daughter of the late William and Marie (Schmader) O’Donnell. Â On Sept. 5, 1949, in Kane, she married Clair “Cano” Dalton, who preceded her in death in 2006.
Onie worked as a cook at the Kane Middle School cafeteria for over twenty years. Â
ServSafe is a certification program developed by the Restaurant Association Education Foundation. The course meets certification requirements for individuals who are responsible for the safe handling of food in restaurants, schools, elder care facilities, lodges, bed and breakfasts, community centers, and other food concessions (organizations or businesses that sell or prepare food on a regular basis).Â
This course, taught by Rick Kralj, Penn State Educator, is scheduled for Mondays, September 25 and October 2, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Education Council’s Coudersport office. At 10:04 AM on Wednesday, Allegany Fire & EMS have been dispatched to a vehicle crash into a pole with injuries at 4054 South Nine Mile Road.

At 5:44 AM on Wednesday, Coudersport Fire & EMS have been dispatched to a rollover crash on East Second Street & Woods Edge Lane in Sweden Township. The injured driver is self-extricated from the overturned truck that is over the embankment. A stokes basket has been requested to move the driver to the roadway.

Wellsville Police arrested Daniel D. Wood, age 56 of Nunda, charging him with Grand Larceny 4th (Class E Felony) and Issuing a Bad Check (Class B Misdemeanor). The charges stem from an incident that took place at Runnings. Wood was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thompson. Wood was returned to the Allegany County jail without bail. Wood is due back in Wellsville Village Court on October 15th at 4:30 pm.

BRADFORD, Pa. – Courtney Mealy, who has been serving as interim director of arts programming at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, has been promoted to director of arts programming.
 Mealy has been working in arts programming at Pitt-Bradford for 10 years, first as an arts programming assistant, then as an assistant director and interim director.

At 9:02 PM on Tuesday, Elkland, Knoxville, Osceola Fire Depts. & Valley Ambulance have been dispatched to 7605 Route 49 for a house fire with flames showing. Occupants are out of the house.
Route 49 is CLOSED.

The North Country Voices is a community chorus located in Coudersport, PA. and includes singers from the surrounding area.  We are inviting additional members to join. The group is comprised of soprano, alto, tenor and bass voices and it performs both sacred and secular music. Our next scheduled program is the Christmas Concert December 2023. Rehearsals are held every Thursday evening. The startup date for the first rehearsal is Thursday September 7 from 6:00-8:00pm.
This is a well-established choral group with experienced singers at its core. If you enjoy singing, can make a commitment to attending rehearsals and wish to share a music experience with dedicated musicians who work toward a polished performance, you are invited to join. It is not essential that you read music. Rehearsal soundtracks are made available to help each person learn their voice part.
