Victor A. “Vic” Wentworth, 91, of 800 West Washington Street, Bradford, PA passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on May 31, 1932, in Duke Center, he was a son of the late Glenn and Vivian (Barnes) Wentworth.
Vic graduated from Bradford Area High School in 1952. On January 5, 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged January 4, 1955.
Vic worked many years as a food representative for several food service companies in the western New York and western Pennsylvania area.
Rose A. Kline, 89, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois following a short illness.
She was born on October 1, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the Isaac Gusmerotti and Marie Bleggi Gusmerotti.
On December 18, 1971, she married the late Richard Kline, who preceded her in death in 2000. Together they shared nearly 30 years of marriage.
Rose was a graduate of Horton High School and a member of Queen of the World Church. Rose enjoyed cooking and reading. To Rose, her family was her life and she delighted in caring for them. Always ready to help with her grandchildren, she loved nothing more than watching her grandkids grow. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and “Nona”.
Rose is survived by two sons; James Klein and his wife Cindy of St. Marys, and Donald Klein and his wife Liz of Weedville; and by her 8 beloved grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister; Yolanda Corradi of Erie, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Rose was preceded in death by her son; Gary R. Klein, who preceded her in death Nov. 2, 2023, by two brothers; James and William Gusmerotti, and by two sisters; Dolores Swanson and Helen Weis.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose A. Kline will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Matthew Scott Leach, 44, of Russell, PA, died peacefully of natural causes, with his family by his side, on Saturday, December 2, 2023.
Matt was born November 30, 1979, in New Martinsville, WV. He was the son of Donald R. and Janet Rogerson Leach of New Martinsville, WV. He was a graduate of Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, WV, and he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry from West Virginia Institute of Technology, Montgomery WV.
Matthew was employed by Veolia Environmental Services as account manager working primarily at United Refinery Company in Warren, PA.
At 1:40 PM on Monday, Highland Fire Dept. & Kane Ambulance has been called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Rt. 66 & Rt. 948. A passenger vehicle is reported to have failed to stop at a stop sign and collided in a T-bone fashion with a tractor-trailer. Two occupants of the passenger vehicle are reported to be entrapped. Gasoline is leaking.
Madison Ness is the Student of the Week for the week of December 4th, 2023. She is participating in the afternoon session of the Early Childhood Education program at the Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center.
Madison is a senior enrolled at Smethport Area High School. Upon graduation, Madison is going to attend St Bonaventure University to further her education in Early Childhood Education.
Madison works for the Smethport 21ST CCLC After School Program. Her extracurriculars include the following: 4-H Club Member, Basketball Team, Cheerleading Squad, 4-H Teen Council President and last year she traveled to Washington D.C. as a delegate to represent her state in the National 4-H Conference. She is also a member of the National Technical Honor Society.
Madison enjoys spending time with her animals and playing sports in her free time. We look forward to her efforts paying off as she strives to attain her Child Development Associate credential in the near future.

James C. “Jamie” Loy II, 43, a lifelong resident of Sweden Hill, passed away with his loving mother by his side on Friday, December 1, 2023, in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport, after a short illness.
Born on Friday, August 22, 1980 in Coudersport, he was a son of James C. Sr. and Patricia L. Boden Loy.
Jamie was a graduate of Coudersport High School. He was an avid reader who thoroughly enjoyed studying and researching many matters in which he was interested. He spent his entire life on Sweden Hill, greatly enjoying the outdoors. Along with his late father, he spent countless hours walking and enjoying nature on the family farm.

Sinnemahoning State Park is now accepting registrations for the Winter Women in the Wilds event, which will be held at the park during the weekend of February 2-4, 2024.
The Women in the Wilds event at Sinnemahoning State Park is a ladies-only weekend of outdoor recreation and environmental education. The 2024 Winter WITW event offers women the opportunity to participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, wilderness survival, interpretive walks, Dutch oven cooking, yoga, nature crafts and more. A milestone for Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestlers and the first United East Conference Volt Division wins of the season for the men’s and women’s basketball teams were recorded this past week.

Penn College finished first in a 14-team field and nine of its 24 wrestlers placed among the top six in their respective weight classes at the RIT Invitational on Saturday, marking the team’s first-ever tournament team title.
The Wildcats earned 138.5 points and outdid host RIT, with 129 points, and Williams College, ranked 21st in the most recent National Wrestling Coaches Association Tournament Team poll, with 128.5 points to round out the top three.
