Robert L. Papalia, 67, of Warren, PA, died on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in the Rouse Home after an extended illness.
He was born in Warren, PA on November 28, 1956, the son of the late Ross J. and Patricia Giltinan Papalia. Bob was a graduate of Warren Area High School, Class of 1974 and then attended Jamestown Community College. He worked as an Aging Care Manager for the Area Agency on Aging in Warren.

Reconstruction Project Continues on Interstate 80 EB in Columbia County
Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a multi-year reconstruction and resurfacing project continues on Interstate 80 eastbound in Columbia County, between mile markers 230 and 244 in Hemlock, Scott, and Mifflin Townships.
On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the contractor will perform roadway joint sawing and sealing between mile markers 230 and 234 in Hemlock and Scott townships. This work will occur between the hours of 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM, with an alternating lane restriction in place. This work is expected to be completed in one night.
On Monday November 4, 2024, the contractor will repair an area of roadway near eastbound mile marker 244 in Mifflin Township that was previously damaged by a crash. This work will occur between the hours of 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM, with an alternating lane restriction in place. This work is expected to be completed in one night.
Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, watch for stopped or slow-moving vehicle, watch for lane changes, and drive with caution through the work zone.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. is the prime contractor for this $11.1 million reconstruction and resurfacing project. Work includes shoulder reconstruction, roadway resurfacing, structure preservation, signing, and other miscellaneous work. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in 2025.
New Seasonal Hours for the Wildlife Center
With the shortening days of late fall, Sinnemahoning State Park will shift the hours of operation for the Wildlife Center. Starting Saturday November 2nd the Wildlife Center will be open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.

FALL TURKEY SEASON
Pennsylvania’s fall turkey season kicks off Saturday, Nov. 2 in 20 of Pennsylvania’s 22 Wildlife Management Units (WMUs.) The fall season is closed in WMUs 5C and 5D. For the remaining WMUs, the season lengths are as follows: WMUs 1B, 3D, 4C and 4E –Nov. 2-Nov. 9; WMUs 1A, 2G, 3A, 4A, 4B and 4D –Nov. 2-Nov. 16; WMUs 2A, 2F, 3B, and 3C –Nov. 2-Nov. 16 and Nov. 27-Nov. 29; WMUs 2B, 2C, 2D & 2E –Nov. 2-Nov. 22 and Nov. 27-Nov. 29; and WMUs 5A and 5B – Nov. 2-Nov. 5. Hunters are advised that the three-day Thanksgiving season again will run Wednesday, Thursday and Friday only in applicable WMUs.
As a reminder, no single-projectile firearms may be used in the fall turkey seasons. Hunters may use shotguns with fine shot and archery gear only.

Mercy Batterson competed in the Model Horse Show at the State Horse Show in Harrisburg, PA. She received both grand champion and reserve champion, along with master showman for the fantasy class!

Jeffrey S. Lane, 56, of Emporium, PA
Jeffrey S. Lane, 56, of Emporium, PA passed away at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, PA on Thursday afternoon (October 31, 2024). He was born May 20, 1968 in Towanda, PA a son of the late Carl Walter John and Marianna Darling Lane.
He attended SRU School District. He worked as a logger for many years before working at GKN where he worked for over 25 years. He was a member of Bucktail Rod & Gun Club. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and anything outdoors.
Lowell B. Fryxell, 77, of Emporium, PA
Lowell B. Fryxell, 77, of Emporium, PA passed away at Penn Highlands DuBois on Tuesday night (October 29, 2024) following a brief illness. He was born November 4, 1946 in St. Paul, Minnesota a son of the late Bernard and Evelyn Johnson Fryxell. On February 9, 1968 in First United Methodist Church, Emporium, PA he married Rebecca “Becky” Thomas, who survives.
Lowell graduated from Taylor’s Falls High School in Minnisota. He served with the US Navy during Vietnam from March 1964 through November 1967. He worked many years at PA Pressed Metals and later retired from Embassy Powder Metals. Lowell enjoyed fishing and cooking but especially loved spending time with his family.
New Urologist joins BRMC, OGH physician network
Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), both Kaleida Health facilities, announce the appointment of Brian F. Dinerman, MD, urologist, to the physician network. He will be joining both practices of Dr. Gary Carl, Olean, and eventually, Dr. David Godfrey in Bradford.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at BRMC and OGH. The people here are what drew me to the area. I think the community is great; close, tight-knit, and is one-of-a-kind,” said Dr. Dinerman. “I’m looking forward to improving access to specialized care and improving the quality of life of my patients.”

Multiple Arrests In Olean, NY
The Olean Police Departments Emergency response team conducted a Search warrant this morning at approximately 6:20 a.m. for drugs at 309 S. 3rd. St.. Two males inside the residence were arrested, 40 year old Micah Hicks and 45 year old Elliott Smalls both of 309 S. 3rd. St. were both charged with Criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd. degree ( B Felony ) and held for arraignment. Investigators located Cocaine inside the residence. Later this morning Police located two other individuals on the 100 Block of S. 3rd. St who were arrested on outstanding indictment warrants, 47 year old Tobias Price of 120 S. 3rd St and 54 year old David Brooks of 122 S. 3rd. St. were charged with drug sales and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail to await arraignment. 35 year old Stacy R. Spencer of 310 S. 3rd. St was arrested October 9th on a outstanding indictment warrant charging him with Criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree and Criminal sale of a controlled substance 3rd. degree ( B Felonies ) . Spencer was transported to the Jail to await arraignment. On October 24th, Heather Chase, age 32 no permanent address given , was arrested for Criminal sale of a controlled substance 3rd degree and Criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd. degree. Chase was arraigned in Olean City Court and remanded to the Jail. These arrests are a result of a nine month investigation conducted by the Street Crimes Unit into drug sales on S. 3rd Street. . We were assisted by the Southern tier drug task force and the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s K-9.

43 year old Steven Gaddy of East State Apartments, 422 East State St. Apartment 111 was taken into custody last night by Patrol Officers and charged with Criminal sale of a controlled substance 3rd. degree and Criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd. degree ( B Felonies ). Gaddy was part of the South 3rd. Street investigation conducted by the Street Crimes unit.

COUDERSPORT, PA—Connie A. Crown, 63, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, left the loving care of her family in her home and passed into the arms of the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2024, after a long illness.
Born on Saturday, April 1, 1961 in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of Edith Stewart Clark. On June 16, 1979 in Port Allegany, she married Bill F. Crown, who survives.
Connie was a graduate of Coudersport High School. She was a loving caregiver to her neighbors and church family who needed assistance.

Paul A. Buchsen, 82, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
Born on Monday, June 22, 1942 in Coudersport, he was a son of George and Steffie Pransky Buchsen. On October 31, 1964 in St. Bibiana’s Catholic Church in Galeton, he married Dolores M. Rankin, who survives. He passed away one day short of their 60th wedding anniversary.

Maxine Rouse FAULISI, 94, of Corning, NY
Maxine Rouse FAULISI, 94, of Corning, NY, passed away October 17, 2024 in her home after a brief illness surrounded by family.
Maxine proudly lived independently with support from her family. Born November 9, 1929, in Lawrenceville, PA, the daughter of Robert and Mary Wood Rouse. Maxine was an Honor Society member and graduated from Northside Blodgett High School. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Corning. In her early years, she taught Sunday school in the Presho Methodist Church. Additionally, she was employed by New York Telephone Company where she worked for several years and during this time she met her husband, Nicholas D. Faulisi, and they were married December 2, 1950.

Coudersport Senior Center WILD GAME CHILI FUNDRAISER November 11
The Coudersport Senior Center, located at 200 Chestnut Street, will hold a WILD GAME CHILI FUNDRAISER on Monday, November 11, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 2 p .m. for a donation of $5.00.
There will be lots of scrumptious desserts available for purchase at the Bake Sale. Tickets for a 50/50 Raffle and Beautiful Christmas Quilt Raffle will also be sold. The Raffles will be drawn on December 11, 2024. All proceeds go towards operating expenses.
The Coudersport Senior Center is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. A lunch is served, which needs to be pre-ordered. There are card games, activities, information, speakers and more at the Senior Center.

Causer, Dush Announce $2 Million Grant for Pitt-Bradford Library
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has been awarded $2 million in state funding for renovation of the Hanley Library, Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) and Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) announced today.
“We are fortunate to have such a great educational institution right here in McKean County to serve not only our students but also students from around the country and around the world,” Causer said. “I am pleased to support the university in its efforts to continue to improve and expand to meet the needs of our students, including through the renovation of the library.”
