The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will present “For,” a multimedia art exhibition by artist, writer, and arts administrator Sayward Schoonmaker, from Oct. 20 through Dec. 5, 2025, in the KOA Art Gallery, Blaisdell Hall.

The opening reception will be at noon on Oct. 20, and admission is free. 

“For” brings together sculpture, video, and text to explore how people experience celebration, grief and even the weather. Schoonmaker draws inspiration from many sources — including fabric arts, field guides, and other experimental forms — to build a living archive and develop a poetic way of expressing shared human emotions and connections.

Congratulations to Corey Rice, a senior from Northern Potter High School, for being recognized as Automotive Student of the Week! Corey has demonstrated outstanding skill, dedication, and a strong workethic in the automotive shop. Remove snow and then salt sidewalks at Redwood Village, Honeoye Haven, Ulysses Family, and Mountain View projects. Sidewalk snow removal and/or salting will be completed during the time of each regular parking lot snow plowing. The Agency will provide the salt for the parking lots and sidewalks as needed. Contractors will contact PCHA Maintenance Staff for approval to perform needed services each time plowing or salting is required.

Philip Arthur “Flip” Pantano “Loving Husband”

Philip A. Pantano of Seneca Ave. passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Olean General Hospital.

Flip was born April 4, 1953 in Olean and was the son of Vincent J. and Helen Anna Bender Pantano. On July 20, 1982 in Austin, TX he married Barbara A. Tassin who survives.

Flip was a 1971 graduate of Hinsdale High School. He worked for North Gale Buick Dealership as a Auto Repair GM Tech. Flip then moved to Huston, TX and worked for Astro AMC Dealership for about a year returning to Olean and working for John Hardy Chevy. He then moved back to Austin as a GM Tech moving back to Olean to work at Bokman’s from 1983 to 1995 then at Weatherall Chevy in Cuba.

Cameron County, in partnership with North Central Regional Planning and Development Commission, the Northern Tier Community Action Corporation, and Emporium Borough, has received funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfields Program to assist with the reuse of previously used properties in Cameron, Clearfield, and Potter Counties. The funding is being used to identify and prioritize sites, conduct environmental site assessments and create site reuse plans for priority sites. Cameron County has engaged a consultant team, led by Montrose Environmental, to implement the project.

A market study is under way, which will inform project priorities and help to identify reuse opportunities throughout the three-county study area. The Project aims to inform and engage with communities in the region transparently and equitably. Cameron County and project partners invite community members and stakeholders to learn about the project and share your perspective.

Due to critically low water levels in their Reservoir, the Town of Ripley has officially declared a State of Emergency. Mandatory Water Conservation Order is in place for all commercial and residential customers of Ripley Water District.
Reservoir levels continue to decline. Water supplied to Ripley Water District customers remains safe to drink. However, bottled water donations are being requested from local retailers to help reduce household water use and preserve the limited Reservoir supply.

Linda Lee Shufesky, 65, of 314 Spruce Street, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 13, 2025 at Penn Highlands DuBois.  Funeral arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.

Raising money for worthy causes can be daunting, but there is no reason that it cannot be fun! BAPL is putting the ‘fun’ back into its fundraising efforts this October.

The library is hosting a month-long raffle for six beautiful granny square afghans. The afghans are the result of a community-inspired project that spanned the summer, with hundreds of granny squares donated by individuals throughout Bradford. BAPL is grateful to the following ladies who donated their time and talents to stitch each square into a blanket: Marcia Green, Honami Iwasaki, Beth Price, and Lynne Hobbs. Spooky Season Book Bingo Reading Challenge: Looking for a fun way to start your spooky season reading? The library is having a book bingo reading challenge for October! Pick up a bingo sheet at the library and start your reading! She was born on May 18, 1931 in Kane; a daughter of the late Fred and Rose Boylan Truesdale.

She was a graduate of the Bradford Area High School.

On November 9, 1963 in Smethport; she married Robert “Hoppy” Hopkins who preceded her in death on May 29, 2016.

She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church.  She was a former member of the Marche Club Auxiliary and the Red Hat Ladies.  She was also a former volunteer with the BRMC Auxiliary.  Peggy loved sending cards to and receiving cards in the mail from friends and family.

10/14/2025 UPDATE: Due to inclement weather yesterday, the Route 14 detour will begin today, Tuesday, October 14, 2025 and will end on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.  

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised a bridge replacement project continues on Route 14 in Trout Run, Lycoming County.

NEW: Between Tuesday, October 14, 2025 and Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Route 14 will be closed between the Route 15 north exit ramp (Exit 148) and Trout Run Mountain Road (Route 1002) in Lewis Township, while the contractor, Rylind Construction Company, Inc., begins construction of the bridge approaches and the removal of the temporary connector and traffic signals.

The following detours will be in place through October 28.

BRADFORD, Pa (October 10, 2025)– Journey Health System (JHS) and their affiliates held their annual organizational Board meeting on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the main JHS office located in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Over 50 individuals from each agency’s Board, executive team and guests gathered remotely and in-person for the election of officers and to review the fiscal year. Since this marks the 10^th Anniversary of JHS, the theme of this year’s meeting was “A Decade of Partnerships & Progress”.
