Raymond L. McGinnis “beloved husband, father, and Papa”
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA—Raymond L. “Ray” McGinnis, 70, of Shinglehouse, passed away surrounded by his loving family in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY, on Friday, October 18, 2024, after a long illness.
Born on Sunday, May 16, 1954 in Johnstown, PA, he was a son of Jess and Esther Birge McGinnis. On October 9, 1993 in Shinglehouse, he married Roberta G. Ackerson, who survives.
Night of the Living Dead, Live! presented by Hamilton-Gibson Productions hits the Warehouse Theatre stage this Friday, October 25 at 7:30pm with an opening night celebration in the Warehouse Gallery following the performance. Two special screenings of the film “Presidential Elections 1789-2020: Facts, Tidbits, & Cartoons – Focus: Tioga County. PA” will be shown in the Deane Center’s Coolidge Theatre at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro PA 16901 on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. and on Monday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
A third special screening will be presented on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at the History Center on Main Street, 61 North Main Street, Mansfield, PA 16933.

Coudersport Rotary Club was pleased to host teacher, Nick McIntire, at their September 30, 2024 meeting at A&W West End Grill. Nick came to speak about a developing strategy called Co-teaching with Special Education Teachers.
Co-teaching is when two teachers work together to plan and deliver instruction to a group of students. This practice is most often use in inclusive education settings where a special education teacher and regular education teacher work together to teach all students in one classroom.

Jeanne B. LEONARD, 81, of Genesee, PA, formerly of Honey Brook, PA, died Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in UPMC Cole, Coudersport. Born February 21, 1943 in Berwyn, she was the daughter of Rudolph and Lydia Hayworth Bowman.
On November 20, 1995, in Elkton, MD, she married Charles J. Leonard, who survives. A 1961 graduate of Conestoga High School, she was employed as an accounting supervisor by several manufacturing companies.

At the Tenth Annual Benefit for Homeless Animals, the public can view the wide selection of items donated for the Chance Auction by regional and local businesses, such as gift cards, jewelry, toys, dishes, bakeware and more today Saturday, Oct. 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Howard S. Lines Knoxville VFW Post 6753 at 703 Boatman Road, Knoxville, Pa. 16928. There will not be an admission or cover charge to attend.
During those times, auction tickets will be provided for people to place with the auction items they want to win. A numbered style of ticket that does not require people to write in their names is being used.
There will also be a 50/50 raffle.
In addition, more than 25 handcrafted wood items made by Jerry Gaye will be sold at this year’s benefit. They will be available for purchase on Oct. 18 and 19 during the Yard Sale being held in conjunction with the Chance Auction with the funds to be donated too. Among the items are: a 68-inch long by 16-inch wide model of the American Civil War ironclad warship, the USS Monitor; bar stools, log furniture, a giant pine cone, planters, big stars, lanterns, birdhouses, beverage holders, charcuterie boards and more.
Beginning at noon this Saturday bluegrass and old-time music will be playing and chili, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and other food will be available for purchase.
Drawings for the Chance Auction and raffle winners’ names will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Proceeds from this year’s benefit, being presented by Jerry and Helen Gaye of Osceola, will be donated to the Heading Home Center at 725 Gee Road, Tioga, PA 16946. It is operated by Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries, Inc., a volunteer-based organization that was founded in 2001 in Tioga County. “The Heading Home Center has guaranteed that 100 percent of the funds we raise will be spent on the homeless dogs and cats in their care,” Jerry said.
In September of 2016, Second Chance opened its Heading Home Center in Middlebury Township. Since then, 914 cats and 802 dogs have been adopted and the center has reunited more than 225 dogs with their owners.
People are welcome to donate money, a bag of dog or cat food or cleaning supplies. Donations of any kind of dry or wet cat and dog foods are always appreciated. The animals at the center eat 200 pounds of Purina Pro or Victor dog food and 4Health cat food each month.

Black Tie Groove will be singing and playing Motown, Soul and Funk from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s this Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro. This is the second concert of the Wellsboro Community Concert Association’s 76th six-concert season.
Known for their high-energy performances, this New Jersey-based group features seven talented musicians including lead vocalists Erin Kukla and Eric Delaney; Keith Kukla on lead guitar; Tony Chibaro on drums; Joe Gorgolione on bass guitar; Joe Andreacchi on keyboards; and Ricky Paetzell on saxophone.
Among the songs Black Tie Groove will perform are the Temptations’ “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”; Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”; Patti LaBelle and the Labelle’s “Lady Marmalade”; Aretha Franklin’s “Respect”; Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”; and Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons’ “Oh What a Night”.
Seating is in individual, comfortable, theatre-style chairs.
Tickets, if available, will be sold at the door Saturday night starting at 6:30 p.m.
The other four Saturday night 7:30 p.m. concerts being presented in the Deane Center’s Coolidge Theatre during the Wellsboro Community Concert Association’s 2024-2025 season are: Nov. 16, The Gibson Brothers, Bluegrass at its Finest; Feb. 15, 2025, House of Hamill, Upcycled Celtic Folk and Vintage Vibes; March 15, 2025, Dàimh, award winning ‘Gaelic Super Group”; and April 5, 2025, The EG Kight Trio with EG Kight’s blend of “country flavored southern fried Blues.”
A Season Subscription for adults 19 and older represents a 50 percent savings over the individual ticket price for each of the five remaining WCCA concerts. There is a student subscription for ages 13 to 18 for the concert series. Youngsters ages 12 and under are admitted free to the concert series when accompanied by a paying adult. Please reserve a seat for any child attending for free.

Suzanne M. Lear-South, 74, of Cedar Street passed away Monday (Oct. 14, 2024) surrounded by her loving husband and sons at The Pavilion at BRMC.
Born Aug. 19, 1950, in Erie, she was a daughter of the late Neal G. and Tonette “Toni” F. (Curcio) Lear. She was a 1968 graduate of Bradford High School.
On Jan. 16, 1971, at St. Bernard Church, she married Robert A. South, who survives.
After high school, Susie was employed at Case Cutlery in the shipping department. She also worked for Dan Ross at Colors Galore, and she was a private home decorator and did wallpapering. Susie also worked for Bradford Township as a cleaning contractor for 30 years, until retiring.

Susan M. Collins of 11 Collins Lane, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Bradford Pavilion.
Susan was born July 27, 1950 in Paterson, NJ and was the daughter of Harold H. and Helen A. Astrauskas Hoke Sr. On June 27, 1970 in the St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, she married her loving husband Richard Collins Jr. who survives.
