David R. Benedict, Jr. age 54, of Wellsboro, PA, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 23, 1970 in Hancock, NY, a son of David R. and Linda L Benedict, Sr. and was married to Heather A. (DeVantier) Benedict. Dave was a program manager for Infinera of Sunnyvale, CA and a member of Christ Church, Wellsboro, PA. He enjoyed hunting, building and fixing things, being outdoors, traveling riding his four-wheeler, listening to country music and especially spending time with his family.
Barbara B. Visneski, 92, of Saint Marys, PA, died Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Penn Highlands Hospital in Dubois, PA.
Born March 16, 1932 in Austin, PA, she was the daughter of Benjamin C. and Florence M. Swanson Barnett.
On May 24, 1952, she married Walter J. Visneski Sr. They were married for 67 years at the time of Walter’s passing in 2016.
Barbara worked at the family owned grocery store when she was ten years old. She also worked as a baby sitter for her family’s Doctor while in school. She started working at Sylvania in Emporium, PA after graduation from Austin High School, class of 1950. She later worked at Sylvania in Saint Marys, PA for 31 years before retiring. After retiring Barbara and Walter retired to Austin, PA, where they enjoyed the majority of the rest of their lives together.
Port Allegany – Angel C. Hill, 51, of Port Allegany, passed away Tuesday (May 7, 2024) at her home in Port Allegany, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 20, 1973, in Olean, NY, a daughter of Jonathan Nelson and Gloria (Press) Nelson-Lamont. On May 9, 1997, in Coudersport, she married Robert T. Hill, who survives.
Angel was a 1993 graduate of Coudersport Area High School. She worked as a CNA at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport, in long-term care.
Angel enjoyed watching TLC programs and crime shows. She loved to sew and do crafts, but her most beloved time was spent with her family and friends.

Norman E. Eilers, 91, of 8117 SW 81St. Loop, Ocala, FL, and Vista Avenue Ext., Bradford, PA passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at E.W. & Lucille Cates House in Ocala FL.

Last Thursday the Districts Jon-Marc Burdick and Jenn Dixon presented the water table at the Rotary Day’s Field Trip at Sizerville State Park. Students from Cameron and Austin School Districts had the chance for a hands on learning of the different stream projects the District builds throughout Cameron County.
Marilyn (Miller) Snyder, 82, of Westfield, PA passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro.
She was born May 1, 1942, in Bloomsburg, PA to Myron and Dorothy Miller. She earned her RN, and worked at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville where she was the head nurse in the Urology Department.
On May 28, 1969, she married Sidney Homer Tobias Snyder with whom she shared 28 years of marriage. They moved to Westfield for retirement, but after Sidney’s death, Marilyn went back to work as a nurse at Soldiers and Sailors.
Marilyn loved to hunt and fish and watch the animals out her windows. She was a gifted quilter and enjoyed crocheting, but most of all she was devoted to her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Wanda D. Spires, 78, of Warren, PA, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 4, 1946, in Paris, France, the daughter of the late Andrew P. and Janina Rataji Gurdak. Wanda was a 1964 graduate of Youngsville High School, after she went on to become a Registered Nurse. Wanda was employed by Warren State Hospital for many years and then retired from the Rouse Home in Youngsville.
Wanda enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, traveling, crocheting and was an avid reader.
For the second time in four seasons, and first since 2021, the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s softball team is in the United East Conference Championship series. An automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Regionals also is on the line.
As the UE Volt Division winner, the Wildcats will host UE Skye Division titlist Wilson College in a best-of-three-game UE Championship series at Elm Park. Game 1 is set for Friday at 1 p.m., with Game 2 at 3 p.m. Should a third “if necessary” game be needed, it will be played on Saturday at a time to be announced.
Penn College enters the series with records of 28-9 overall and 18-5 in all UE games, while Wilson’s records are 28-11 and 17-4.

Job Description:
Join our dynamic team as a Manufacturing Process Engineer where you will play a pivotal role in designing, defining, and planning manufacturing processes. You’ll be responsible for specifying and overseeing the installation of new processes, planning equipment build schedules, and monitoring vendor progress. Your expertise will contribute to recommending equipment, method, and layout changes to optimize manufacturing procedures and processes. Moreover, you’ll work on improving current processes through continual analysis of labor, equipment, and processing costs.
Desired Qualifications:
Previous experience in manufacturing methods/processes
Familiarity with PLC programming
Knowledge of CAD, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Industrial Engineering
Excellent creative, advisory, instructional, communication, and problem-solving skills
Education:
4-year bachelor’s degree preferred
Specific Education/ Experience:
2-4 year engineering degree, plus 3 to 5 years of manufacturing work experience. Candidates with Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering degrees are preferred.
Specific Skills and/or Experience with Software, Equipment, etc.:
MS Office, Autocad, Solidworks, Fanuc Robots, RSLogix, AB Panelbuilder, CTC HMI, Compumotor. Experience with equipment such as ultrasonic and vibration welding, automated vision, and electrical testing is desired.
Belmont, NY – Carl J. Laici Sr, 57, of Schuyler Street, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born December 6, 1966, in Wellsville, the son of the late Joseph C. and Elizabeth A. (Blue) Laici.
Carl was raised in Wellsville. In 1984 he enlisted during the Gulf War with the United State Army and served as a Jumper. Upon his honorable discharge in 1992 he returned to Allegany County and followed in his mother’s footsteps, finding his career in healthcare working for Jan and Bev’s until his retirement; he also previously worked in construction. Outside of his employment, he was a former member of Wellsville’s Fire and Rescue Squads.
