Michael M. Davies, 58, of Morianna Avenue, Bradford, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh.
Born December 27, 1965, in Warren, he was a son of the late Donald and Paula Karen (Conklin) Davies. He was a 1985 graduate of Smethport High School.
On July 18, 1985, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was Honorably discharged on July 17, 1989. He continued to serve in the Navy Reserves until November 26, 1992.
Patricia J. “Pat” Corbett, 84, a resident of Elk Haven, and formerly of Grant Road, Ridgway, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
She was born on February 15, 1941, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Charlie and Martha Fischer Ecklund.
On April 23, 1960. Pat married the late Gerald A. Corbett, who preceded her in death on July 28, 2007. Together they shared over 47 years of love and marriage.
Pat grew up on Grant Road and was a lifelong resident of Ridgway. She graduated from Ridgway High School, and was a devoted member of Faith United Church of Christ. Pat was a member of many area clubs including the Eagles, Elks, and American Legion. In her free time she loved being outdoors. Pat could often be found camping or fishing, and she especially enjoyed going for 4-wheeler and golf cart rides. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her dogs whom she adored.
Pat is survived by her 3 children; Randall C. Corbett of W.V., Laurie J. (Bruce) Kinley of St. Marys, and Melissa L. (Andy) Covac of Ridgway, by 12 grandchildren; David Corbett, John Elias Jr., Paige Corbett, Shane Corbett, Melinda Elias Fasnacht, Shari Kinley Johnson, Danielle Corbett Gulnac, Sierra Corbett, Nicolas Hoffman, Cassandra Hoffman, Mike Covac, and Samantha Covac, and by numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters; Carol (Bud) Speaker and Judy Wolff, both of Ridgway, by a sister-in-law; Anne Ecklund of St. Marys, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Pat was preceded in death by a son; Rodney A. Corbett, who preceded her in death on March 6, 2023, by a brother; Ron Ecklund, and by a brother-in-law; Tom Wolff.
Funeral services for Patricia J. Corbett will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Faith United Church of Christ, 400 Ash Street, Ridgway, PA 15853, with Paul Reed officiating.
Burial will take place in Lake City Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Faith United Church of Christ from 2:30 PM until the time of the service.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the following schedule of maintenance activities in Potter County the week of June 23. PennDOT performs year-round maintenance in its mission to provide a safe, efficient transportation system, and the scope of work in Potter County for the coming week is as follows:
Bridge Maintenance & Cleaning
Route 144 bridge spanning Pine Creek in Galeton Borough. Monday, June 23, through Friday, June 27. This work takes place off the roadway and has little, if any, impact on traffic.
Pennsylvania has some of the oldest bridges in the country, with an age of more than 50 years on average. Preventive maintenance is vital in extending the life of the structures. As such, PennDOT maintenance crews perform some bridge deck patching and structural repairs.

Route 1013 (Bingham Centre Road) between Hickox/Ulysses Road and the New York state line in Bingham Township. Monday, June 23, through Friday, June 27. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.

Spectacular. Pennsylvania College of Technology athletic teams had multiple highlights during their record-setting 11th season as members of the United East Conference and eighth season as full-fledged members of the NCAA.
The college finished third of 17 teams in the United East Presidents’ Cup, which annually recognizes the athletic achievements of its members. The winner is determined by a scoring system that rewards success during both regular-season and postseason competition. St. Mary’s (Maryland) College took the top spot for the third year in a row, followed by Penn State Harrisburg. The Wildcats’ third place was their highest after a fourth and two sixth-place finishes.
“This is unequivocally the most successful year in Penn College history in many ways. Twelve of our sports teams advanced to the conference postseason, the department captured three conference titles, as well as had two conference runners-up. Off the field, our student-athletes finished with a combined 3.3 overall GPA for the year in the classroom and had five United East Elite 20 Award winners. Finally, our teams gave back to the community and completed just over 2,700 community service hours,” athletic director Scott Kennell said.
“To be able to watch our programs grow over time is extremely rewarding to view from my seat,” Kennell continued. “Prior to the 2022-23 season, the department had only won three conference championships. Fast forward to 2024-25 and we have amassed seven more titles in a very short period of time.
“We have some of the best coaches and staff at the Division III level and it’s beginning to show. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by such a great group of individuals who have put Penn College Athletics on the map.”

Adeline Angevine was honored Friday upon her retirement after 50 years of service as Judge of Election in Otto Township’s second district. Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) presented her with a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in appreciation for her service and dedication to the Commonwealth and her community. She was also recently honored by the Otto Township supervisors and presented with a wooden plaque that was made by Otto Township Supervisor C. J. Kaluza, who is also pictured.
A kindergarten student at Otto-Eldred Elementary School glides to practice balance on a Strider bike. Students at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford created a fundraising campaign to purchase the bikes for the school, which used them to provide kindergarten students with lessons in balance and bike safety.
BRADFORD, Pa. – Kindergarten graduates from Otto-Eldred Elementary School are starting off their summer with better bike balance and safety skills, thanks to a new program brought to the school by University of Pittsburgh at Bradford students.
As any parent who’s run behind a child’s two-wheeler knows, teaching young children the balance needed to ride a bike can be challenging. Additionally, children may be afraid of falling and getting hurt or not have a safe space to practice in.
Chester J. “Shay” Tanner, II, 74, of Smethport, passed away Tuesday (June 17, 2025) at his residence in Smethport.
He was born September 11, 1950 in Bradford, the son of Chester J., Sr. and Viola L. (Victor) Tanner. On January 16, 1971, in Coryville, PA, he married Sally A. Fowler, who survives.
Jeffrey M. GERTZEN, 64, of Mills, PA, died Monday, June 16, 2025 in his home. Born July 21, 1960, in Norristown, he was the son of Frank and Joan Seewagan Gertzen. On October 17, 1981, in St. John’s Episcopal Church in Westfield, he married Pamela J. Atwell, who survives.
Arlene H. GREELEY, 96, of Austin, PA, died Sunday, June 15, 2025 in UPMC Cole, Coudersport, PA. Born December 6, 1928, in Mosgrove, she was the daughter of Vurnett and Anne Adaline Hoak Harrier.
On February 28, 1948, in the Austin Methodist Church, she married Barton M. Greeley, who predeceased her on January 18, 2024. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in 2023.
