At 2:00 M on Sunday, Limestone Fire Dept. & EMS has been dispatched for a 2 vehicle crash on I-86 Eastbound & Rt. 219.

Thomas E. Brockway Sr., 81, of Carpenter Creek Rd, Eldred, PA
Thomas E. Brockway Sr., 81, of Carpenter Creek Rd, passed away on Thursday (November 09, 2023) at UPMC Hamot, Erie PA.
On May 20, during the 1942 flood, he was the third child of 15 born to Kenneth B. and Virginia (Compton) Brockway Sr. from Corning, NY. On October 27, 1979, in Hornby, NY, he married Lydia L. (Wandover) Stone. He was a member of the Roulette Baptist Church and enjoyed sharing the gospel with others.
A graduate of Corning Northside High School. He was later inducted into the Corning Hall of Fame for his wrestling achievements. For 42 years he was the owner of Brockway General Contracting.

The Chapin family of Rock Run Road in Turtlepoint, PA lost everything in a house fire on November 8, 2023. They are currently staying in a motel and although they need to replace everything, they have nowhere to store items. Any monetary donations will be greatly appreciated!
Austin/Coudersport Dispatched For Structure Fire
At 2:00 PM on Saturday, Austin & Coudersport Fire Depts. have been dispatched to 69 Nelson Run Road for a structure fire. Reported to be front porch of a camp.
Austin Volunteer Fire Department
Today as of 13:59 Station 44 & Station 48 (Coudersport) were dispatched to Wharton Township for a reported Structure Fire. Chief 44-10 (J.Burgett), Chief 44-60 (T.Orlowski), Engine 44-2 with Chief 44-20 (B.Brooks), Tanker 44-5 with Chief 44-30 (S.Hostetlar), Ambulance 44-7 with Chief 44-70 (S.Orlowski) and Patrol 44-24 with Lt 44 (S.Foringer) responded.
Chief 44-60 (T.Orlowski) arrived on scene establishing Austin Command reporting fire contained to porch at this time and confirmed the structure was unoccupied.
Engine 44-2 arrived and quickly went to work extinguishing the fire, and checking for extension. Tanker 44-5 arrived and provided water. Ambulance 44-7 staged. Patrol 44-24 deployed manpower.
Station 48 was recalled with the exception of a Tanker which was soon diverted to cover our station.
The fire was held to the porch. Quick thinking and hard work by neighbors who discovered the fire, and quickly went work utilizing buckets of water until our units arrived made a huge impact on the outcome of this fire.
All units were back in quarters at 15:01.

Women Who Care awards $45,300 in grants at Annual Meeting
Women Who Care (WWC) awarded $45,300 in grants to local nonprofit organizations after 190 members of WWC cast their votes for their favorite projects at the Annual Meeting in October. Women Who Care brings women from diverse backgrounds together to combine their philanthropic leadership and strengthen the Elk County community through the power of collective giving.
The 2023 annual meeting was held at the Johnsonburg Firehall. Attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner, grant presentations and voting, entertainment by the Allegheny Harmonizers, the awarding of grants, and a delightful social evening with members and guests.

A new scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford was created to memorialize Thomas Sheeley, a longtime member of the facilities staff who died last year.
The Thomas J. Sheeley Memorial Scholarship will benefit a Pitt-Bradford upperclass student making progress toward their degree.
Born in Kane, Sheeley was a 1965 graduate of Bradford High School and served two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he served in the 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry, D Company “Wolfhounds” from Sept. 1, 1966, until June 13, 1968. His service included the January 1968 counteroffensive of the Viet Cong’s surprise Tet attack against the South Vietnamese and their American allies.

Portville Fire District – Engine Company #1
This evening around 17:20 we were dispatched to Daggett Hollow road for a reported car into a utility pole with wires across the roadway. Rescue 46, Em-202, Ut-257 and all chiefs responded. Once on scene crews evaluated both occupants of the vehicle and both refused transport. Daggett Hollow was shut down for approx 2 hours and 45 minutes while crews waited for RG&E to arrive on scene to take care of the broken pole and downed wires. We were assisted with the road closure by Bolivar Fire Department. All units were back in service around 20:30

Shirley May Campbell, age 76, of Lawrenceville, PA
Shirley May Campbell, age 76, of Lawrenceville, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Corning Hospital.
She was born July 18, 1947 in Osceola, PA and was a daughter to the late Austin “Dutch” and Gladys (Mortimer) Heitzenrater.
Shirley worked at a few different jobs throughout her life; she started at her parent’s store – Dress Factory, went to Electric-Cord for a while, then she was a cook at Cuda’s Restaurant, following that she cleaned at the Penn York Hotel and lastly she was a cook at Prestons Market.

Steven A. Buck, 72, of Ridgway, PA passed away at his residence, Ridgway, PA on Thursday, November 9, 2023 morning following a lengthy illness.
He was born September 26, 1951 in Ridgway, PA a son of Alice Marie “Allie” Lindgren Buck, Ridgway and the late Teddy Buck. On April 16, 1982 in St. Leo Catholic Church he married Marjorie A. Kennedy, who survives.
Steve graduated from Ridgway Area High School in 1969 and served with the US Army from 1971 through 1973. He worked for the B & O Railroad several years, Allegany Color over 22 years and at the age of 56 he graduated from Pitt at Bradford with an associate degree in nursing. He worked for 11 years at Warren State Hospital before retiring. After retirement, he was a bus driver for Ridgway School District. Steve enjoyed golfing and fishing and loved spending time with his family.
