Olean- Pasquale “Pat” J. Piccirillo

With heavy hearts, Pasquale J. Piccirillo’s family announces his passing on Friday, December 5, 2025. He was surrounded by the love of family at home as he completed his earthly journey and was reunited with loved ones in Heaven.

Pasquale was born on October 7, 1937, in Olean, NY to John and Mary (Battista) Piccirillo.

Pat attended Olean High School. At age 70, he earned his High School Equivalency Diploma and received a certificate for an essay about his father.

Potter County continues an extended “America250” celebration, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Spearheading the observance are the Potter County Historical Society (PCHS), represented by David Castano; and Allegewi Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, represented by Ilene Altenhein.                 BRADFORD, Pa. – University of Pittsburgh at Bradford faculty have had a productive year publishing and presenting papers, planning a research conference and earning a new degree.

Tyler Babinski ’23 published his first article with two of his Pitt-Bradford faculty mentors, Dr. Salma Shaik, assistant professor of computer information systems and technology, and Dr. Y. Ken Wang, associate professor of computer information systems and technology. “Exploring Inflammatory Bowel Disease Discourse on Reddit Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic Using OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 Turbo Model Validation and Case Study” was published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research. Babinski said, “This work represents a significant step forward in how health conversations on social media platforms can be analyzed.”

Cattaraugus Co Sheriff: TRAVEL ADVISORY in effect for all of Cattaraugus County. Heavy snow is making travel difficult and dangerous. Motorists are asked to AVOID unnecessary travel until further notice.
A travel advisory does not mean all roads in the affected area are officially closed. However, the public is encouraged to avoid any travel that could wait until the advisory is lifted and conditions have improved.
If travel is necessary, motorists are asked to leave extra time to reach their destination, have a winter emergency kit in their vehicle, be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions, and be observant of first responders and plows on the roadways.

The PUC notes that recent changes in natural gas prices and colder weather can impact utility bills this winter – while outlining steps that consumers can take to help manage energy use, compare costs, and find help if they are struggling.

Winter Weather and Your Natural Gas Bill

Natural gas bills have two main parts:

• Delivery charges – These cover the cost of pipelines and infrastructure, and this portion of your monthly bill supports your local utility.
• Supply charges – This is the cost of the gas you use, determined either by a competitive supplier or your utility’s Price to Compare (PTC).

THIS AFTERNOON…

A band of heavy lake effect snow will impact travel across Potter and Tioga County this afternoon with very low visibility and quick snow accumulation on roads. Gusty winds will also create blowing and drifting snow.

BRADFORD, Pa. — What do you get for that friend who has everything? For Richard Esch, president of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, the answer was a scholarship.

                A group of anonymous friends have set up the President Richard T. Esch ’83 Scholarship at Pitt-Bradford in honor of the long-time leader and 1983 graduate. Even Esch does not know who the donors are.

                “I feel this is a real honor to have in my name as president,” Esch said. “I know how important financial aid is for our students. We hear it every day.”

Growing up, I lived across the street from an elderly couple, Ruth and Hugh Lee, and their brother Art. As a young boy, they seemed like the nicest people. My brothers, sisters, and I would often sit on their porch while they served us gingersnap cookies and milk. Those cookies were the best, and they still are my favorite today. As wonderful as they were, I felt sorry for them because, in my view, they were not going to heaven. You see, I was taught that anyone outside our belief system was far from God. I shared my concern for their well-being with my father, who assured me that God would make allowances for some, and because of their goodness, they would probably be granted entrance into heaven.

McKean County is seeking a qualified and highly motivated applicant to perform the duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the County Jail. Based on candidate preference, this position can either be full or part-time.

Primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

1. Conduct patient assessments, perform physicals, order medications, and provide healthcare as required for all inmates at the County Jail.
2. Conduct blood draws, urine samples, pregnancy testing, and strep testing as necessary.
3. Maintain an accurate filing system to ensure consistency and accuracy of treatment programs and the reports prepared for the physician.
4. Train inmates and staff on health issues, such as medication dispensation and what to look for in each inmate’s condition.
5. Work independently, as well as under direction; make critical decisions, often in stressful situations.
6. Assure accurate filing systems and compliance with record keeping requirements.
7. Serve on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week as needed.
8. At times must fill in for Mental Health provider, giving guidance and counseling to inmates.
9. Assist in managing and tracking the inmate prescription process to ensure appropriate care and eliminate the chances of medications abuse.
10. Identify and develop patient care planning and monitor the plan.
11. Schedule medical testing with the County Physician and/or hospital personnel.
12. Conduct research for inmate medical records.
13. Take physician orders and transcribe them.
14. Assist with other such duties as may be assigned for the successful operation of the department.

Requirements for Candidates:

• Minimum requirement as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• One-year experience with adults in a treatment setting.
