Thad William Keefer was born on May 9, 1976, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, to Sharon Evrard Cox and Terry Keefer. From a young age, Thad stood out for his big heart, contagious smile, and an energy that couldn’t be contained. A curious and spirited soul, he had a love for the outdoors, a drive for adventure, and a soft spot for the people he loved.

We placed a bronze marker at the burial site of Roger Edgcomb in Lymansville Cemetery. This is actually the KICK_OFF Event for the American 250 Celebration in Potter County.Regent Ilene Altenhein gaver a program referring to our 11 Revolutionary War Soldiers of Potter County.
Potter County Honor Guard was there doing their part and firing the guns. They placed the standard marker with the American Flag. Commissioner R. Rossman attended also.
Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a pipe replacement will resume next week on Wyalusing News Albany Road (Route 2010) in Terry Township, Bradford County.
Starting Monday, July 14, 2025, Wyalusing New Albany Road will be closed in both directions between the intersections with Route 187 and Shaffer’s Notch Road (Route 2011), while a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) maintenance crew replaces deteriorating pipes.
Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford) is inviting area senior citizens, their family members and caregivers to his upcoming Senior Expo on Friday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at Wellsboro Senior High School Gym and Commons, 225 Nichols St.
“For more than 25 years, area senior citizens have benefited from the expo and the wealth of information it provides, all in one convenient location,” Owlett said. “
The expo is open to seniors age 50 and older, as well as their family members and caregivers, to obtain information, ask questions, and connect with dozens of exhibitors from government agencies; health care service providers; insurance/financial and legal services; long-term care professionals; travel and transportation services; utility companies; and representatives from offices within the federal, state and local governments.
Admission to the expo is free.
Smethport–A Celebration of Life service for Dolores “Dollie” Wilber will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11AM in the Hilltop Baptist Church, Gifford, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.

Ardis L. Hayes, 95, of Ogden, Arkansas, formerly of Bradford, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on July 7, 2025, surrounded by the thoughts and prayers of those who loved her most.
Born in Bradford, Pennsylvania, on March 8, 1930, to Marian and Harold Foster, Ardis carried a lifelong devotion to faith, family, and quiet acts of kindness. In Bradford she met John “Bud” Hayes. Both were born in the same hospital just three days apart from each other, and together they shared 34 years of marriage. Their greatest joy was raising their four children: Mila, Robert “Bob,” Edward “Ed,” and Patricia “Patti.” After the family moved to Richardson, Texas, Ardis created a welcoming home where her children completed grade school and countless friends found warmth.

The July 1, 2025 meeting of Ceres Township Supervisors was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Anthony Plants with 3 Supervisors, Secretary, and 12 residents in attendance. The Pledge of Allegiance was said and the June 3,2025 meeting minutes read and approved.
Paradise Energy Solutions Discussion concerning the solar farm raised questions: will it connect to the electric grid? The fire department has no chemical to use should a fire break out. Is Paradise Energy willing to provide the chemical to have on hand? What is the effect of the Solar Farm on a pacemaker? How do they propose to treat the soil to return it to its original state when decommissioning? Questions will be relayed to Paradise Energy and responses reviewed at the next meeting. Some residents were in direct opposition to the Solar Farm.

Richard H. Truax, Jr., of 9084 Beebe Hill Road, Cuba, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at home, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness.
Born on August 21, 1931, in Genesee, Pennsylvania, he was a son of Richard H. and Laura M. (Spencer) Truax, Sr. On November 30, 1951, in Franklin, Kentucky, he married the former Ruby E. Gore who predeceased him on November 15, 2024, and they were married for 74 years.

Bonnie C. Kennedy, 74, of 316 N. 10th Street, Olean, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025 at Wellsville Manor Care Center after a short illness.
Born on June 21, 1951, in Cuba, she was a daughter of Donald and Mabel Shaffer Kennedy.
Bonnie attended Cuba Central School, graduated with an associates degree from Jamestown Community College in 1980, and in 2007 graduated from Empire State College with her bachelor’s degree.
Smethport – Ruby Marlene Burt, 82, of Smethport, passed away Saturday (July 5, 2025) at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport, after a brief illness.
She was born September 14, 1942 in Clermont, PA, a daughter of Arthur Roy and Beatrice Faye (Church) Dunkle. On December 4, 1970, in Port Allegany, PA, she married Wayne Martin Burt, who died April 1, 1986.
The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners has postponed its meeting, which had been scheduled for July 11 and 12, and will meet instead on Monday, July 28.
The postponement will allow more time for gathering public comment following the recent passage of House Bill 1431, which would repeal Pennsylvania’s Sunday hunting ban. The bill has not yet been signed into law, but is expected to be soon.

Written by Eugene Field, the poem is in the public domain, and so Coolidge decided to publish a version of his own. “Because I write books, I formed my own publishing house,” Coolidge said. “Wynken, Blynken, & Nod” will be one of the few books that he will publish that he didn’t actually write.
Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that the next portion of Route 1010 (Genesee Mills Road) in Bingham and Harrison townships in Potter County will close Monday, July 14. This project will improve ride quality and extend the service life of more than five miles of roadway.
Montoursville, PA – A roadway resurfacing project continues on Broad Street / Lycoming Mall Drive (Route 2014) in Montoursville Borough and Fairfield Township, Lycoming County.

Suit-Kote Corporation is the prime contractor on this $2.7 million resurfacing project. Work on the project includes mill and resurface of bridge approaches, application of micro-surface treatment and line painting on Route 220 in both directions between Linden and the City of Williamsport, Route 220 north between Pine Creek and Route 287, Broad Street in Montoursville Borough, and Lycoming Mall Drive in Fairfield Township. This project is anticipated to be completed in the fall 2025, weather permitting.

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a bridge replacement project continues on Route 522 in Spring Township, Snyder County.
On Monday, July 14, 2025, , Route 522 traffic will be switched to the temporary two-lane roadway while the contractor begins removal and replacement of the existing bridge over an unnamed tributary to Beaver Creek. Motorists can expect lane shifts and slow-moving vehicles while traffic is being switched onto the temporary roadway.
Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that its Elk County Maintenance Organization will close Route 2007 (Irishtown/Old Kersey Road) on Monday, July 14, for a two-day pipe replacement project. Replacing the 78-inch pipe located approximately three-tenths of a mile west of the intersection with Fern Lane in Fox Township, Elk County, will help prepare the road for future resurfacing projects.
While the road is closed, traffic will follow a detour using Route 255 and Route 948 back to Irishtown/Old Kersey Road. In the event of rain on July 14, PennDOT will begin the work on Tuesday, July 15. Department forces will complete all work and expect to reopen the road by Wednesday, weather permitting.
Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) alerted drivers in Ferguson Township, Centre County, that they will encounter uneven pavement and rough road conditions on Route 45 for the next few weeks. The road suffered damage Monday, starting at Ferguson Township Elementary School and continuing eastbound for approximately a mile, during a shoulder widening operation for an ongoing bicycle and pedestrian improvement project.
