Increased Respiratory Virus Activity, Especially Among ChildrenĀ

Belmont, N.Y. – Allegany County has recently seen an increase in respiratory virus activity like RSV (RespiratoryĀ Syncytial Virus) and Flu, especially among children. The UR Jones Memorial Hospitalās Sandra Watkins, BSN,Ā RN, Vice President of Patient Care Services reports, āRespiratory illnesses have been rising in our area. Our EDĀ volume is increasing due to this phenomenon. A majority of the cases are able to be discharged back into theĀ community.āĀ

The Allegany County Department of Health encourages County residents to get you and your family vaccinated for Flu, wash your hands often, stay home when you or a household member are sick, and donāt wait to talk to your healthcare provider if you or a loved one experiences symptoms of RSV or Flu.
