Robert C. Gnan Sr., 87, of S. Michael Road., passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Magee Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.
He was born on December 22, 1936 in Saint Marys, PA, a son of the late Joseph and Helen Ott Gnan.
On November 8, 1958, in Sacred Heart Church, he married Donna Wolford, who preceded him in death on January 5, 2017. Together they shared more than 58 years of love, laughter, and marriage.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves and was a member of Queen of the World Church. He retired from Powdered Metal Products after more than 46 years of service.
In his free time, he loved going to camp and hunting. He enjoyed working around the house and tinkering with things. Whenever Bob would get a new car, he enjoyed adding all the bells and whistles to customize it the way he wanted. He will be remembered for the love and pride he had for his tractors. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by 4 children; Robert Gnan Jr., Steven Gnan, Kevin (Marilyn) Gnan, Brian Gnan, all of St. Marys, by six grandchildren; and by fifteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother; Joseph (Janie) Gnan, and a sister; Shirley Meyer, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Richard Gnan, Harold Gnan, and Kenneth Gnan, and by two sisters; Elizabeth Gnan and Patty Bucheit.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert C. Gnan Sr. will be celebrated on Friday. October 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, as Celebrant.
Military Honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Serviceman’s Burial Detail.
Burial will take place at the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Elk County Humane Society.
