Bertha M. Texter “beloved mother, grandmother, and sister”
Bertha M. Texter, 82, of Coudersport, formerly of Bethlehem and Perkasie, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in UPMC Cole, with her loving daughter by her side.
Born on Saturday, June 6, 1942 in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of Frederick and Viola Kluzt Hawk. In 1959 in Bethlehem, she married James Texter, who passed away on March 6, 2020.
Bertha held many positions throughout her life. In her younger years, she was employed by Thomas and Betts Company in North Wales. Her last job was in Honesdale at Walmart as a baker.
She loved shopping and playing Bingo. Bertha also loved vanilla cookies, sugar cookies and most especially, glazed donuts. Her greatest love was her family.
Left to cherish her memory are three sons, James (Chris) Texter, Jr. of Equinunk, Paul (Pam) Texter of Gilbertsville, and Scott (Kristi) Texter of Honesdale; a daughter, Lisa L. (Ted) Dennis of Coudersport; six grandchildren, Jaclynn, Tara, Jessica, Paul Brian, Sawyer, and Haiden; two step-grandsons, Alan and Eric; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline and Sheril; two brothers, Butch and Leroy; and several nieces and nephews.
Bertha was predeceased by her parents and her husband.
Currently there are no services planned.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials in Bertha’s name may be made to the Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 651, Coudersport, PA 16915.
Bertha’s family entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
