Theft of Lost Property Arrest In Bradford
On 08/16/2024 the City of Bradford Fire Engine lost a new Milwaukee leaf blower out of one of the storage compartments when it was making a turn from Chestnut Street on Main Street heading west. Once the firemen noticed the items missing investigators used surveillance camera systems to determine where the item fell out of the truck at.
The Milwaukee leaf blower observed on camera laying in the roadway in front of PNC Bank on Main Street. A white SUV then pulls up and an adult male exited the passenger door and took the leaf blower into his possession.
Officers determined the identity of the man to be Robert E. Niver of 7 Munn Road, Bradford. On 08/21/2024 Sgt. Shephard and Ptlm. Evan Schmidt responded to that address to speak with Niver and determine if he still possessed this lost/mislaid tool. Officers observed the BCFD leaf blower clearly marked sitting on the front porch area.
Robert E. Niver exited the home but would not cooperate with Officers refusing toΒ give any identification when advised by Officers that they were there for official investigation and they had evidence in plain view in front of them. Officers then took Niver into custody charging him with theft of lost or mislaid property, receiving stolen property, and failing to produce ID. Magistrate Richard Luther arraigned Niver and set bail at $5,000 unsecured. Preliminary hearings are set in the matter.Β Location Main Street Bradford, PA 16701
