Leslie M. “Rabbit” Jensen, 71, of Carter Camp, PA
Leslie M. “Rabbit” Jensen, 71, of Carter Camp, PA, passed away on Tuesday, July 23 2024, at home. Born November 9, 1952 in Annapolis, MD, she was a daughter of the late John Jensen and Mary (Blades) Jensen.
Rabbit was a graduate of Pleasantville High School in Pleasantville, NJ and then attended Widener University in Chester, PA. She was then employed at Xerox as a repair tech and then at the Ford Motor Company and Visteon in electronics and as a quality control tech.
Rabbit was a member of the Galeton Public Library Board for many years, and greatly enjoyed reading and gaming. She was also a writer and edited newsletters for DVFFA and the Frosty Hollow Herb Guild. She put together and edited “A Woman’s Angle” and self-published it for DVFFA. This was a collection of stories from 10 years of the newsletter.
Rabbit enjoyed knitting and even won a first-place ribbon at a local fair for a pair of socks that she made. She also liked cartooning. She had a character named Fat Rabbit who was a Ziggy-type eternal loser. Rabbit loved fishing, especially fly fishing.
She was a talented fly tyer and taught the art to any, and all that wanted to learn. She often had tables at festivals where she sold her ties and later her book. She was also passionate about geocaching. She once drove herself to Seattle, WA to the Geocaching Headquarters. She also placed a few caches in this area. Rabbit liked to volunteer, as well. She worked at the library’s booth at the Red Suspender weekend until 2022, worked at the Bark Peeler’s Convention for several years and worked at the Philadelphia Folk Festival for over 20 years. Finally, she helped From My Shelf in Wellsboro by building bookshelves for their new location.
She is survived by a sister, Muffit Lory Jensen; a nephew, Fox Bravo; a niece, Noel Bravo; and her companion of many years, Margaret “Maggie” Ryan.
Friends may call on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Galeton, from 10:00-11:00 am. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am.
