Owlett Senior Expo, Shredding Event This Friday, Aug. 2
WELLSBORO – Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford) is reminding area senior citizens, their family members and caregivers of his upcoming Senior Expo this Friday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon at Wellsboro Senior High School Gym and Commons, 225 Nichols St.
In conjunction with the expo, Owlett is also hosting a shredding event in the school’s parking lot to give area residents the opportunity to help protect themselves against identity theft by having documents with personal information securely shredded.
The expo is open to seniors age 50 and older, as well as their family members and caregivers, to obtain information, ask questions, and connect with close to 80 different exhibitors from government agencies; health care service providers; insurance/financial and legal services; long-term care professionals; travel and transportation services; utility companies; and representatives from offices within the federal, state and local governments. Health screenings also will be available, and door prizes will be offered.
The shredding event is open to all residents, but no businesses, please. Residents are invited to bring up to two grocery-style bags of documents with sensitive information, such as Social Security and bank account numbers, to be securely shredded.
Participation in both events is free.
Owlett’s local offices in Wellsboro and Troy, as well as his Harrisburg office, will be closed at noon on Thursday, Aug. 1, and all day on Friday, Aug. 2.
