Theater Arts Camp Offers Two Performances on June 21
Fifty students in grades 4-9 have registered for the Summer Theater Arts Camp for Kids, taking place this week at the Tioga County Fairgrounds in Whitneyville, PA. This year’s theme is “Perchance to Dream” with all the songs, plays, and activities focused on the phenomenon of dreaming, including those that happen when we are asleep, daydreams, and those goals that we envision in the future.
Classes will be taught by Artistic Director, Thomas Putnam, along with Jeremy O’Neil and Jaden Bartlett, and interns Lilac Burke and Maddie Palm. Over the course of the week the teachers will help students develop a show based on various class projects and activities, and this work will culminate in two public performances on June 21. “Every year the summer camp gives students the opportunity to create something brand new together. We work with each other to develop our ideas for the show, and how we can communicate them thoughtfully and imaginatively through art. We aim to inspire students to find their voice and communicate what’s in their head and heart.” says Putnam.
All are welcome to attend these original performances. No ticketing is required, but donations are appreciated on a pay-what-you-can basis. The shows will take place on Friday, June 21 at both 3:00pm and 6:00pm at the Tioga County Fairgrounds, 2258 Charleston Rd., Whiteneyville, PA. Call 570-724-2079 for more information.
