Stanley M. Mitchell, 72,
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley M. Mitchell, who left us in May 26, 2024. Stanley was born January 30, 1952 and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family, friends, and work.
Stanley was the beloved son of the late Joan K. (2012) and John G. (2020) Mitchell. He is survived by six siblings: Steven (Kathy), Ann, Mary (John, dec.), James, Thomas (Carol), and David, creating a strong family bond that extends to his many nieces and nephews. Stanley was a cherished uncle to his 15 great-nieces and -nephews, who will always remember his warmth and kindness.
A proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Stanley went on to further his education at Penn State University. His academic achievements were a testament to his hard work and commitment to learning. Professionally, Stanley dedicated many years to the Pennsylvania State Store System, where he was a dedicated worker. In retirement, Stanley enjoyed going to the Clairton Gun Club for skeet shooting and dinner with family and friends. He enjoyed caring for his cat Frankie, feeding the birds, and watching the deer that came into his yard. His passion for his love of animals was evident to all who knew him.
Stanley’s life was marked by his generosity, his loyalty to his family and friends, and his remarkable ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will forever cherish his memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pleasant Hills Public Library at 302 Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 in his memory.
