Joseph P. “Moe” Cardoni, 87, of 3377 Long Level Rd., Johnsonburg, PA passed away peacefully with his family by his side, late Tuesday evening, April 30, 2024, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Johnsonburg on March 13, 1937, a son to the late Nicholas and Mary Cherry Cardoni. He married Evelyn Mannella, she passed January 5, 1968. On September 26, 1970, in Holy Rosary Church he married Dorothy E. “Dot” Kennedy. She passed October 6, 2021.
A lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, Moe attended Johnsonburg High School. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and the Prince of Piedmont Club. Moe loved to be around his family and enjoyed his Sunday dinners. He was an avid gardener, canner and loved to cook. He also loved to go fishing and hunting.
A Veteran of the US Air Force, Moe served as an Airman First Class, aircraft mechanic, with 393rdBomb Squadron from 1954 to 1958.
In 1998, Moe retired from Carbon Graphite in St. Marys after over 50 years of service. After retirement, he worked for several years at the St. Marys WalMart.
Moe is survived by his children; Loretta Bryington (Spider) of Ridgway, Brenda Gaither (Daniel) of Chambersburg, Bonnie Woodford and her companion Tom Hefright of Johnsonburg, Nick Cardoni (Rebecca) of Johnsonburg and Tracey Gregori (Bryon) of Johnsonburg, his grandchildren; Nicholas Blair, Logan Paulik, Alyssa McIntyre, Ashley Rowland, Eric DeLong, Joshua and Jason Woodford, Josie, Garret & Gino Gregori, Brianna & Emily Cardoni and Chad Whippo and his great -grandchildren; Alec, Liam, Emma Jo, Levi and Eli Woodford, Ava Paulik, Remi & Oden Rowland, Will, Carson, Hallie & Aubrie DeLong, and Natalie, Lucy and Xanderlyn Lechien.
Moe is also survived by his sisters; Juan Pisani of Johnsonburg, Louise “Chee” Biondi (Terry) of Johnsonburg and Annette Inzana (Ron) of Olean, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.
Moe is predeceased by his parents and wives Evelyn and Dorothy.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation with Moe’s family on Friday evening, May 3, 2024, from 6 to 8 PM at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel, 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg.
Th Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph P. “Moe” Cardoni will conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg at a later date and time, June 1, 2024, at 10 AM with Fr. David Wilson, Pastor as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Ridgway-Wilcox Servicemen’s Detail on the day of the day of the service, June 1, 2024.
