Announcing Potter County Youth Leadership!
Are you a student entering grades 10 – 12 this fall at Austin, Coudersport, Galeton, Northern Potter, Oswayo Valley, or Port Allegany School District? Are you interested in learning more about your community and developing your leadership skills? If so, the Potter County Youth Leadership Program (PCYL) is the right place for you! PCYL will help you discover and develop your leadership strengths and ability to work cooperatively to improve your community.
PCYL will meet one day per month from September 2024 – March 2025 and includes full-day sessions at various locations around Potter County. A variety of topics will be covered, such as Orientation and Team Building; Local Government and Diversity; Business and Economics; Healthcare and Volunteerism; Agriculture and Our Environment; Human Services; and Post-Secondary Education and Careers. Essential leadership skills such as professionalism, dealing with deadlines, time management and communication skills will also included. Graduation will be held in early April 2025.
PCYL is free, but transportation to and from each session is the responsibility of either your school or your family. Applications are available from your school district, or you can stop by the Education Council’s office at 5 Water Street, Coudersport. You can also request an application by emailing jmorley@pcedcouncil.org or calling (814) 274-4877. Completed applications must be submitted to the Education Council by May 21, 2024; students will be notified of acceptance by mid-June.
