Carolyn Ferranto, 81, of Delaware Ave. in James City, PA passed away Wednesday (April 3) in the Lutheran Home at Kane. Born March 18, 1943 in Kane, she is the daughter of the late Howard and Ellen (Anderson) Hannold. On June 14, 1961 she married Leo Ferranto, who preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2023.
Carolyn enjoyed being a wife and homemaker. Her greatest love was caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and baker and an avid New York Yankees fan.
She is survived by three daughters, Lisa (Angelo) Lopez of Kane, Gina (Ronald) Scheaffer of Harrisburg and JoAnn (Mike) Royer of Tampa, FL; two sons, John Ferranto of Kane and Joe (Shelly Dyne) Ferranto of Smethport; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Geraldine Servedio of Florida, Betsy Joseph of Hermitage and Bonnie Huckabone of Kane; two brothers, William and Thomas Hannold both of FL; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Anthony Ferranto; five sisters, Shirley McKee, Janice Woodward, Doris Paulson, Mary Jane Womer and her twin sister Marilyn Brinkley and three brothers, Leroy, James and Charles “Butch” Hannold.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor on Saturday (April 20) at St. Callistus Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. William O’Brien as celebrant. The entombment will be in the St. Callistus Mausoleum.
