On Thursday, March 14^th, bring preschoolers to the Coudersport Public Library for Storytime: Eclipses for a fun evening story time and craft! From 10 AM to 10:45 AM, we will read Total Solar Eclipse by Jayme Sandberg and illustrated by Kathleen Gadekin. Afterwards, kids will create an eclipse-themed craft to take home while learning about the solar eclipse that will happen in April and how to view it safely. 

Then, on the evening of March 14^th, teens and adults are invited to visit the Coudersport Library more in-depth look at eclipses with the Exploring Eclipses program from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Whether you’re planning on checking out the eclipse in-person or are just interested in learning more about them, this program will help you make the most of your eclipse-viewing day. We’ll learn about what an eclipse is, history of eclipses, how to safely view an eclipse, and what to expect on April 8th. Eclipse glasses and pinhole viewers are available to participants, while supplies last. This program is best for teens and adults, though families with children are welcome to attend. The park is also partnering with the Galeton Public library to offer the same Exploring Eclipses program geared toward older kids, teens, and adults on Thursday, March 21^st, from 6 PM to 7 PM. Note the slight time difference from the Coudersport Library program.

All programs are free, no pre-registration required. If you’re looking for something to do close to home on the day of the eclipse, April 8^th, join us at Cherry Springs State Park to view the partial eclipse. Stop by any time between 2 PM and 4:30 PM to enjoy free, fun activities and look through our specially filtered solar telescopes!  Eclipse glasses will be available while supplies last. The peak of the eclipse will occur around 3:20 PM. The eclipse will not be visible if it is cloudy. While not required, registration is encouraged to relay information about the weather.
