Robert R. “Bob” McDermott, 71, of Kersey, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Synder Memorial Health Care.

He was born on September 17, 1952, in Smethport, a son of the late James and Virginia Stickles McDermott.

On August 5, 1978, at St. Boniface Church, he married Margie Kastner, who survives.

Bob was a graduate of St. Marys High School, class of 1971 and was a member of St. Boniface Church. He was a lifelong volunteer for the Fox Twp. Fire Police, and retired from Metaldyne after several years of service. Bob enjoyed mowing his grass and watching the races.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, he is survived by one son, Jason McDermott and his wife Jenn of Ridgway, 3 granddaughters; Hailee, Mariah, and Kendall. He is also survived by one brother; T.J. McDermott and his wife Debbie of Kersey, by 2 sisters-in-law; Susan McDermott and Barb McDermott, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers; James McDermott, Richard McDermott, and Dan McDermott, and by 3 nephews: Matthew McDermott, Josh McDermott, and Dan McDermott.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert R. “Bob” McDermott will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM at St. Boniface Church, 355 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15846, with Fr. Kevin Holland, Pastor, officiating.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the St. Boniface Church Gathering Space from 12:00 PM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fox Twp. Fire Department or to the Fox Twp. Ambulance.
