Pilar (Esclapes-Torralba) Sargeant, age 85 of Westfield, PA passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Wheaton’s Private Care Home, with her family by her side.

She was born May 28, 1938 in Zaragoza Spain. Pilar was an active member of the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and worked for years at the rectories in Elkland and Wellsboro.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, gardening; most of all she loved spending time with her family. Pilar had an intense passion for running. She ran in many marathons all over the states and could always be seen running around the Westfield area.

She is survived by her sister Isabel Esclapes, children, David L. Sargeant of Jonestown, PA, Sandra P. Giuffrida of Hancock, ME and Susanna M. (William) Seip of Corning, NY; grandchildren, Bryan J. Morthland, Alexander C. Giuffrida, Nicholas R. Giuffrida, Kathleen M. Grassi, Jennifer L. Kulakowski and Rebecca N. Seip; great grandchildren, Corinna Morthland, Levi Morthland , Mason Morthland , Ryan Giuffrida and Theodore Kulakowski; sister in law, Jane Green and nieces and nephews, Mary Carmen Doz, Timothy Green and Nancy Young.

Pilar was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Sargeant and sister, Carmen Nadal.

Family will receive friends at Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St., Westfield on Thursday, January 11th from 12:30 – 2:30 PM. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 2:30 PM with Father Jacek Bialkowski and Pastor Tim Miller. Burial will follow in Champlin Cemetery.
