BLOSSBURG, PA – A police chase which began near the Richmond Township Walmart on South Main Street in Mansfield, PA., and reached speeds close to 100 MPH, came to a conclusion within five minutes in the Borough of Blossburg, PA.
The pursuit started around 6:06 PM and came to a stop at 6:11 PM on Thursday, December 14, 2023, on Reese Lane, which is a dead end street close to the Blossburg Fire and Ambulance Department.
As Mansfield Borough Police pursued what was described as a red Nissan vehicle, the officer requested assistance. Pennsylvania State Police, as well as Mansfield University Campus Police responded to assist. However, the pursuit ended quickly in Blossburg, PA. Those in the vehicle bailed out and fled on foot, as Mansfield Borough jumped out of his patrol unit and gave chase. The officer would use his taser to stop one of the individuals in his tracks. As the subject was taken into custody, other police units arrived on scene to assist.
Due to the deployment of the taser EMS was requested around 6:20 PM from Blossburg Ambulance Association along with Medics from Wellsboro to treat the individual who would later be transported to UPMC Wellsboro ER for treatment.
The Mansfield officer would search the vehicle and come across drug-related items in the vehicle.
Mansfield Borough Police followed the ambulance to Wellsboro, as Mansfield University Campus Police stayed with the vehicle. Shawn’s Towing out of Blossburg towed the vehicle to the Pennsylvania State Police impound yard shortly after 7:00 PM and Campus Police would follow the tow truck back to Mansfield.
