Elsie M. Klaiber, 96, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 122 Locust Road, St. Marys, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.

She was born December 15, 1926, in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Mohr Schneider.

On November 18, 1950, she married the late Raymond W. Klaiber Jr., who preceded her in death on March 19. 2019. Together they shared 69 years of love and marriage.

Elsie grew up in St. Marys and was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1944. She worked at Pure Carbon for several years as a switchboard operator until the birth of her daughter, Carol, and then became a full-time homemaker, often volunteering at the St. Mary’s Catholic school cafeteria and then Queen of the World cafeteria.

Elsie and Ray enjoyed Saturday night card games, traveling in her earlier years, and loved working in their yard and flower gardens.

Elsie is survived by one daughter; Carol Klaiber-McNamara and her husband Robert of Susquehanna, PA, and by one grandson; Stephen T. (Lisa) McNamara of Hummelstown, PA. Also surviving is one brother-in-law; Allen Klaiber of St. Marys, a special niece; Donna Schaberl and by many other nieces and nephews.

Elsie’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the entire team at Pinecrest Manor Reflections Wing for their kindness, patience, and sincere care of Elsie. Selfless caregivers that will forever remain in our hearts.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elsie M. Klaiber will be celebrated on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Jeffery J. Noble officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Queen of the World Church from 12:30 until the time of the Mass.
