Spreading Holiday Cheer at BAPL
BAPL is thrilled to announce that Jessica Michna, recipient of the Presidential Service Center’s Distinguished Service Award, will portray Margaret Cummins, head housekeeper of Balmoral Castle during the reign of Queen Victoria, in an upcoming pre-recorded presentation. With over twenty years of experience as a professional actress and historian, Jessica is widely known for her riveting portrayals of First Ladies, notable women of history, and even fictitious characters.
During this virtual event, attendees will be transported back to 1858 as they meet Margaret Cummins as she is readying household staff for the arrival of the royal couple and their nine children. Guests will learn about the traditions and history of the season. In fact, the audience becomes the incoming household staff of the castle, so don’t be surprised if Mrs. Cummins checks to see if your hands are clean!
Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to experience the holidays in a truly unique way. Join us for Christmas at Balmoral Castle for a festive and educational event that is sure to be unforgettable. The library is offering two showings for this event: Thursday, December 7 at 6 PM and a matinee on Saturday, December 9 at 1 PM.
BAPL is also excited to deliver two more upcoming programs for adults in December to spread some holiday cheer! On Wednesday, December 13 at 6 PM, join us for a Christmas movie complete with popcorn. During the show, we’ll play ‘movie bingo’ where every snowball fight and kiss under the mistletoe could get you closer to winning bingo! No registration is necessary for this free program.
Then, on Monday, December 18 at 6 PM, participants can create unique glass bulb Christmas ornaments using alcohol ink. This program will be led by Courtney Mealy, Pitt-Bradford’s Director of Arts Programming. Participation in this free program is limited, so register early by calling 814-362-6527 or stopping by the Circ Desk. Let’s get into the holiday spirit together with BAPL!
The library has not forgotten about our area youth! A Clay Jewelry Workshop for children in grades 4-6, will be led by Lilly Kemick. This workshop will teach students how to create Christmas-themed jewelry charms using polymer clay. The event will take place on December 9 at 11 AM and requires prior registration. To register, please call 814-362-6527, visit the Circ Desk or email program@bradfordlibrary.org. Don’t miss this opportunity for children to learn a new skill and create unique holiday gifts!
The library will also be hosting a Santa visit on Saturday, December 23 at 11 AM. Bring your children for a chance to meet and take a picture with the jolly man himself. While you wait, there will be crafts available for the kids to enjoy. And that’s not all! On December 31 at 11 AM, we will be hosting an Alice in Wonderland event to ring in the new year. Enjoy Marty’s Bubble Gum Machine, great music, silly games, and plenty of bubbles. At 12 PM, we’ll have an awesome balloon drop, followed by New Year hats and treats. Both events are completely free and open to the public. Don’t miss out on the fun!
