Dennis J. Bechtel, 70, of Two Mile Rd., Port Allegany, PA passed away Wednesday (Nov. 29, 2023) in Olean General Hospital.

    Born November 20, 1953, in Phoenixville, PA, he was a son of Donald and Evelyn Detweiler Bechtel.  On June 2, 1979, in Port Allegany, he married Patricia J. Blackman, who survives.  They were married 44 years.

     Dennis was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of Perkiomen High School, Collegeville, PA.

      He was employed with Ardaugh Glass Packaging of Port Allegany, retiring in 2016, after 29 years of service. He most recently worked as a bus driver for Muccio of Port Allegany.

     He was a member of the Eldred Conservation Club and enjoyed hunting & especially fishing.

     Surviving in addition to his wife, Patricia, are two sons, Thomas J. Bechtel of Steelville, MO, Jeremy C. (Valerie) Bechtel of Wellsboro, PA; three grandchildren: Seth, Isaac, and Jared Bechtel; two brothers, Donald (Maxine) Bechtel of Fayetteville, AK, Robert Bechtel of New Holland, PA; a sister, Debra (Ray) Weikel of Royersford, PA; sister-in-law, Bernadette Bechtel of Reading, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Herbert Bechtel.

     Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Saturday and 12-2 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 3, 2023) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Michael Reeves, officiating. Burial will be in Grimes Cemetery, Port Allegany.
