DICKENS OF A CONCERT IS FRIDAY, DEC. 1
DICKENS OF A CONCERT IS FRIDAY, DEC. 1 WITH HG TREBLE CHOIR, HG CHOIR TOO, DROWSY MAGGIE, LOW BRASS ENSEMBLE AND THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH BELL CHOIR
The HG Treble Choir is offering a delightful evening of holiday and winter music as they help kick-off Dickens of A Christmas weekend in Wellsboro with their annual Dickens of a Concert on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Central Avenue.
Also featured during the concert will be HG Choir Too, Hamilton-Gibson’s training choir for singers in grades 2-4; the popular local group Drowsy Maggie; the Low Brass Ensemble from Commonwealth University in Mansfield; and the First Presbyterian Church Bell Choir.
The HG Treble Choir will sing a wide variety of pieces, familiar and new. “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening,“ Robert Frost’s well-known poem, is presented in a lovely new musical arrangement. “A Song of Hanukkah Maoz Tzur”; the Native American “Huron Carol”, a fun set of variations on “Jingle Bells” and Handel’s “Sing for Joy” are among the selections that will be performed. As always, there will be Christmas carol sing-alongs with the audience.
The Low Brass Ensemble will play a number of familiar holiday tunes as the audience enters the church for the concert. This group is under the direction of Mr. Drew Wolgemuth. Drowsy Maggie will play a number of Celtic tunes and be joined by the HG Treble Choir on “Christmas in Killarney.”
The HG Treble Choir is directed by Thomas Putnam, and HG Choir Too by Cheryl Walters. Both choirs are accompanied by Gary Citro. Marian Miller directs the First Presbyterian Church Bell Choir and will accompany the carol sing-alongs on the organ.
This concert is sponsored by Pam and Rob Kathcart, long-time friends of Hamilton-Gibson.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or on hgp.booktix.com. Admission for adults is $10 and $5 for those ages 18 and under.
