Reverend David Everette Blowers, 95, of Wellsboro, Pa.
Reverend David Everette Blowers, 95, of Wellsboro, Pa. crossed over to his new eternal home on Monday, November 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 8, 1927, the son of Everette P and Evelyn M (Janowsky) Blowers, in West Falls, NY.
He was married to Elizabeth G (Garwood) Blowers in 1949 for 53 years and they had five children.
David (and Dolly) of Triadelphia, West Virginia, Paul (deceased) and Barb of Belington, West Virginia, Ruth ZumMullen of Payson, Arizona, Daniel (and Ada) Blowers of Wauchula, Florida, Deborah (and Steve) Goodrich of Middlebury Center, Pennsylvania.
After the passing of his wife Elizabeth (Betty) in 2002 he has been married to Beatrice Faith Gulnac for the past 20 years.
He has 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren with whom he loved to spend as much time as possible and enjoyed during his long life.
David pastored his first church in Elkland, Pa. in 1949, later assisted his father at Community Chapel of Wellsboro where he became senior Pastor in 1989.
He was Chaplain at the Wellsboro hospital where many people received support and comfort from his kind, loving spirit.
Broad Acres Nursing Home became a weekly place of Sunday church services and visitation with the residents since 1948.
In addition to his preaching, he was also a teacher and taught high school Biology and Physics at Addison Central School, Addison, NY, for 31 years and volunteered his teaching skills, at Wesley Academy in Elkland for 12 years.
Davidās undergraduate education and BS Degree was accomplished at Greenville College and Houghton College. His Masters was attained at Alfred University.
During his years at Addison, he taught tennis and coached the boyās tennis team through many regional and State Championship titles.
His lifelong love of tennis led to him competing in many tournaments, including playing in national father/son tournaments beginning with his Father and later with his sons. He was renowned for his tennis teaching abilities and helped many get started.
As a great outdoorsman he taught his family the traditions and multi-faceted skills of hunting, looking forward to hunting season each year.
Down hill skiing was always enjoyed by David and his family as he taught them how to ski and volunteered, as member of the National Ski Patrol at Denton Hill.
He is survived by his loving wife Faith and his youngest sister Elaine Blowers of Painted Post N.Y.
He is predeceased by his first wife Betty, his son Paul, and great-grandson Josiah Goodrich, two brothers Donald and Phillip, one sister Priscilla Blowers.
Davidās family has entrusted the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA, with his arrangements.Ā Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life from 3:00pm-7:00pm Friday, November 24, 2023, and 10:00am-11:00am Saturday, November 25, 2023, in the funeral home.Ā Funeral service will be at 11:00am Saturday in the funeral home.
