Donald J. Sain, 82, of Terrace Road, St. Marys, PA passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at UPMC Hamot in Erie surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 12, 1941 in St. Marys, PA, a son of the late John and Magdalene Detsch Sain.
On July 5, 1973, he married Leah Dowie, who survives. Together they shared more than 50 years of love and laughter.
Donny was a member of St. Marys Church and was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1958. He retired from St. Marys Steel in 2006 and then worked part-time at Printing Plus in his retirement years, enjoying the friends he met along the way.
He was a member of the Elks Club. An avid sports fan, Donny could often be found watching the game in his garage. Always enjoying the outdoors, Donny spent his summers caring for and tending to his lawn, flowers, and upkeep around his house. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 7 children; Diane (John) Marzula of Wexford, Douglas (Leanne) Sain of Jefferson Hills, Paula (Dr. Joseph) Canterino of Seagirt, NJ, Deborah Sain of Buffalo, NY, Robert (Martha) Campana of Pittsburgh, Jackie (Walker) Means of Edinboro and Jerome (Dawn) Sain of Cranberry and by 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by four siblings; Dorothy Sain of St. Marys, Mary Ann (Cosmo) Schiafone of Johnsonburg, Joseph (Carol) Sain of Matamoras, Alvin (Sharon) Sain of Champion, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his daughter; Lisa Jennings, two brothers; Jerome Sain and Jack Sain, and by one sister, Helen Young.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald J. Sain will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Marys Church, Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Thomas More Sikora, OSB, officiating.
Family and friends will be received at the St. Marys Church on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 10:15 AM until the time of the service.
