Thomas E. Brockway Sr., 81, of Carpenter Creek Rd, Eldred, PA
Thomas E. Brockway Sr., 81, of Carpenter Creek Rd, passed away on Thursday (November 09, 2023) at UPMC Hamot, Erie PA.
On May 20, during the 1942 flood, he was the third child of 15 born to Kenneth B. and Virginia (Compton) Brockway Sr. from Corning, NY. On October 27, 1979, in Hornby, NY, he married Lydia L. (Wandover) Stone. He was a member of the Roulette Baptist Church and enjoyed sharing the gospel with others.
A graduate of Corning Northside High School. He was later inducted into the Corning Hall of Fame for his wrestling achievements. For 42 years he was the owner of Brockway General Contracting.
The grandchildren were an important part of his life, varying from excursions to the swamp and walking in the woods, creating adventures, that they all hold dear.
Surviving including his wife, are two sons, Thomas E. Brockway Jr, of Elmira, NY and Shawn M. (Melissa) Brockway of Frederick, MD ; daughter Kimberly D. Brockway, Longwood, FL ; three stepdaughters, Angela R. (Steven)Schofield of Hudson, FL, Rebecca D. (James) Curcio of Eldred,PA, Michele L. VanAlstyne of Cuba, NY ; four brothers, Kenneth B. Brockway of Beaver Dam, NY, Benjamin B. Brockway of D’Iberville, MS, Daniel B. “Blaze” Brockway and Steven P. Brockway of NY ; four sisters, Virginia “Ginny” Burdick, Irene “Rene” Easling and Barb Blank of Corning, NY, Bonny Rolson of FL ; 12 grandchildren, Tommy Brockway III, Monti Brockway, Keith Green, Bill and Brian McManus, Jared Schofield, Amber and Chris Curcio, Beth (Curcio) Geiger, Brandon and Heather VanAlstyne; and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Frank, Rocky, and Dave Brockway: three infant sisters and one grandson, Bobby Brockway.
Friends may call on Monday, (November 12, 2023) at the First Baptist Church, 141 Main St., Roulette, PA, from 11 to noon, at which time funeral services will be held with Pastor Martin Montgomery officiating. Burial will be held in Annin Creek Cemetery.
