Georgiann M. Friedl, 92, formerly of Evergreen Road, St. Marys, PA
Georgiann M. Friedl, 92, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home for the past 6 years and formerly of Evergreen Road, St. Marys, PA passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
She was born on August 27, 1931 in St. Marys, PA, a daughter of the late Roman and Bertha Eckert Wendel.
On November 23, 1950, in St. Marys Church, she married the late Gerard Friedl, who preceded her in death on July 28, 2004. Together they shared nearly 54 years of marriage.
Georgiann was a member of Queen of the World Church and retired from Keystone Carbon Company after many years of service. She greatly enjoyed bus trips, and could often be found helping her husband finish his wood crafts. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time at McDonalds and Wendys with her friends.
She is survived by six siblings; James (Judy) Wendel of St. Marys, Richard Wendel of Virginia, Arlene Wehler of St. Marys, Phyllis Grazioli of Kersey, Diane Nissel of St. Marys, and Ruthalene (Jude) Zimmett of St. Marys. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including two special nieces; Gwyn Lenox of Kersey and Jane Bennett of St. Marys, as well as by a brother-in-law; Francis Friedl.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Georgiann was preceded in death by a sister; Rita Mae Simbeck, and three brothers-in-law; Harold Simbeck, Andrew Grazioli, and Tom Nissel.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Georgiann M. Friedl will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 12:30 PM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation.
