Scott Raymond Gibson, 53, of Northwest Rd., Kane, PA died unexpectedly, Thursday, October 12, 2023, at UPMC-Hamot.
He was born October 28, 1969 in Kane to Corine Varga and the late James Gibson, and on June 7, 2008 in Kane, he married Kathleen Lindquist. On September 10, 2009, he became a father to Tyler Raymond Gibson, and then on September 9, 2011, his second son, Kellen George Gibson, was born.
Scott graduated from Kane High School in 1987. He then graduated from Gannon University with a degree in accounting. He went on to be the Controller at Clarion Sintered Metals where he would have celebrated his 30th anniversary this week.
He was a past member of the Kane Country Club and a current member of the Kane Elks BPOE #329. He was active in both and passed his love of bowling and golf on to his sons. He was a loving father and took great pride and enjoyment in coaching them in their various sports, including baseball, basketball, and football.
He was incredibly proud to have helped coach the Kane Tornadoes football team to the League Championship in 2021 and was looking forward to being on the 2023 Olean Area Youth Football League’s Little 30 coaching staff. He was a huge fan of all sports, especially Carolina Tar Heels basketball, Penn State football, the Boston Red Sox, and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Scott loved family, adventure, and travel, and was fortunate to enjoy many family trips and sporting events. He visited countless national parks, in 2016 climbed Machu Picchu in Peru, and in January 2023 he watched Penn State win the Rose Bowl live with his wife and sons in Pasadena, CA.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, sons, Tyler and Kellen, and mother, Corine, he is survived by one sister, Sherri (Stuart) Siegel of Boise, ID; two brothers, Steve “Dewey” Gibson of Kane and Terry “TJ” (Rhonda) Gibson of Melbourne, FL; his stepfather, Tom Varga of Kane; his stepmother, Linda Gibson of Melbourne, FL; his mother-in-law Anastasia Lindquist of Kane; his father-in-law Karl (Darlene) Lindquist of Kane; his brother-in-law George (Amanda) Lindquist of Kane; two sisters-in-law, Natalie (Chris) Benek and Michele (Erick) Rich, both of Kane; and twelve nieces and nephews, Rene, Chad, Zoe, Grant, Shane, George, Abigail, Keelan, Nolan, Lena, Lindsey, and Benson, as well as a large, extended family and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Gibson, and his dog, Bear.
Friends are invited to attend a viewing on Tuesday, October 17th at the Cummings Funeral Home from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A funeral ceremony will take place Wednesday, October 18th at Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. David Pflieger officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Tabor cemetery.
