Leo Ferranto, 83, of Delaware Ave. in James City, PA passed away Tuesday (Sept. 26) at UPMC-Hamot.
Born Sept. 1, 1940 in Highland, he is the son of the late Sebastian and Ida (Heaton) Ferranto. On June 14, 1961, in Kane, he married Carolyn Hannold, who survives.
Leo had worked at Kane Magnetics for many years. He was an avid gardener and carpenter and a jack of all trades. Leo loved sports, especially the Nittany Lions, Cleveland Browns and New York Yankees
He was married for 62 years and adored his wife.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lisa (Angelo) Lopez of Kane, Gina (Ronald) Scheaffer of Harrisburg and JoAnn (Mike) Royer of Tampa, FL; two sons, John Ferranto of Kane and Joe (Shelly Dyne) of Smethport; eleven grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Rosemary (John) Baughman of Erie and Donna (Roy) Brinkley of Highland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Anthony Ferranto, one brother Edward Ferranto and one sister JoAnn Northrop.
Friends are invited to attend a viewing which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Gathering Space at St. Callistus. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon with the Rev. William O’Brien, as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the St. Callistus Cemetery mausoleum.
